EQS 580
Insurance

Hello - I'm curious who folks use for auto insurance once you get into cars at the $150K range. I've been with Geico forever, and switching my coverage from my 2015 Tesla to a 2022 580 only raised my rates by about $100 / 6 months. Overall - I've been happy with Geico. I had one minor at-fault accident with my tesla, and they handled the repair payments without any fuss. But I'm also just concerned about how they'd react to a major issue with a $150K car. I got a quote from Chubb (they do our homeowners) and it was almost $8K / year (because of the one at-fault accident). So that's a huge jump from what Geico is.

What do you all use? Did any of you change carriers after getting your EQS?

No.

Got two quotes from agents I’m already dealing with - have an ‘18 S560 - nothing out of normal for my 450+.

back in 2018 I had an accident in my wife’s E63 which was a brand new $133k car. So basically $150 in today’s money.

Geico was the insurance company. They paid to do the repair at a Mercedes authorized body shop with all Mercedes parts and in addition paid me $12k in diminished value.

right now I use progressive because Geico jacked up the rates after that.

I had state farm until they DROPPED my CLS because someone ELSE backed into my front end......I didn't even MAKE CLAIM......they said 'we'll continue covering your other cars and your HOUSE, but we can't cover your Mercedes Benz anymore'.
I promptly cancelled the policy and went to Progressive that same day. WHY would I have continued to do business with them after that??

Insurance salesmen/companies make me so sick.

I haven't seen that. I wonder if it is driven by EVs being more expensive or higher performance on average and so for most people it is an upgrade with more value at stake.

I switched from a Panamera Turbo S which was both higher performance and more expensive than my EQS.
