Interminable around town range.

When daily driving around town without any highway trips Im consistently getting around 420 miles of range. My home charger just sits there looking abandoned for weeks. Is this a problem🤔?
On another note, Im having no luck getting a snow tire package from my dealer.... Winter is coming. I usually like them on by early November. Just a heads up, its around 5k😪

Slow speed driving to work and chauffeuring the kid. My office is only 5 miles away. If the kid delivery is included were talking 15 miles round trip total. At speeds below 50 mph the range is outrageous. Good info to keep in mind if you are on a highway trip and are worried about reaching a charger, slow down and suddenly your range will improve by 35%! On the other hand, if your running low, avoid showing Corvettes that you are faster than them 😉

I had assummed that the two motor cars would not get as good mileage as the single motor. That appears not to be true, because you are getting the same kind of astounding around town mileage as me. I agree, the key is responsible driving at slower speeds around town. Interestingly, I consistently get 4.5 mpkWh when coming home from the golf course, but only about 3.3mpkWh going to it. Except for an 800ft elevation change (the course is higher than my house by 800ft), I cannot explain it. Same roads, same average speeds, same traffic both ways.

If you drive in eco you are essentially in single motor FWD mode unless you bury the accelerator, plus, the 580 regens a lot more voltage than the single motor, thus, in the city they provide essentially the same range.
I must admit I thought that eco mode was gimmicky but it does make saving electrons easy and for city driving it has more than enough oomph. On the highway it can be a little unerving after 65 since to get any power you have to bury your foot but on a long empty highway its just fine.

I get around 460 miles of range with a 450+ when driving around town. I would have expected the drop you report in range for the 580, as that’s consistent with the drop observed in other EVs when going from the base (or, long range) to performance models. With that said, I didn’t know about the selective use of the second motor above, so maybe you should be getting better numbers

I can also verify that on the majority of cases between charges I get well over 430 miles in city driving. On one instance, I was on track for an astounding 480 miles. Most of the time, there is still a bit of highway driving mixed with a lot more city driving. In those cases, I get about 420-430 miles. Obviously, in order to get these amazing ranges you need to drive within 5 miles of the speed limits and and not floor the accelerator.
