My efficiency for summer

So I have just over 3000 mile on my EQS 580 since July and my efficiency has been 326 w/mile. Comparatively, my Tesla Model S would run about 290-300 in the summer. So I think the efficiency is pretty much in line with Tesla who is known to have a very good power train. It's starting to get cooler at nights up here in the great white north (northern Michigan) so I was going to reset my trip odometer to see what the winter numbers are. In my S the winter numbers went down about 30%.

These.past 3000 miles I drove about 50% 70-75 mph, 30% 55-60 on 2 lane roads and 20% on city streets.

What have other people been getting?

I assume you are charging to 80%? If so, your effeciency is a little below mine. I get about 350 miles on an 80% charge in the Summer months. A little less in Winter, as there is an initial battery drain in the mornings to warm up the battery and the car interior. Of course, your driving habits impact it quite a bit. Many of us have experimented with Eco mode, with strong recouperation, with Intelligent recouperation, etc. I usually drive in Comfort mode, and use strong recouperation (and, therefore one pedal driving) when in traffic, and normal recouperation on the open road. There are so many factors, you need to know the whole story to compare mileage.

if you’re getting 350 miles on an 80% charge I think your wh/mile has to be pretty low? My understanding was that the “rated” range was only achievable at 275 wh/ mile. I’m typically around 320 wh/mile and can’t get 350 miles even with a 100% charge. I’m normally in comfort mode with strong recoup. But in western PA with lots of hills…

It would be a lot simpler/accurate if folks used Miles per Kilowatt rather than miles per percentage charged. M/KW is the standard used by most EV owners in my experience.

I'm referring to what the SOC estimates at the percent of charge on my car. Around 350-360 at 80%, around 420 at 100%. I am getting between 3.3-4.5 mpkWh, depending on conditions. This has been consistent all Summer. It is diminished in Winter.

Just finished logging my winter mileage here in the great white north. We averaged just over 100 inches of snow which is about normal for us although the temperatures this winter were slightly warmer than usual. I charged to 90%, used regular regeneration (strong regeneration was kinda scary on icy roads), 19 inch wheels/tires, and the car was out of use for two months for repairs.

Driving habits were the same as before. This was till the first of April when I switched my tires over to the 21 in.

390 w/ mile isn't too bad for 5548 miles. A bit more than my Tesla's used to average, but that's to be expected.

I’ve been going by the 65/65 rule. Driving under 65 F or driving over 65 mph is going to decrease mileage a lot…

I bought on Halloween and crossed 7k miles this week. 1400 mi road trip to NM, multiple trips to Dallas (from Austin) and of course city driving.

I am at 454 w/mi (2.2mi/kwh). I have a 580 SUV. In the last week with temps getting into the 70s I've noticed I'm getting under 400 w/mi. So keeping my fingers crossed that summer efficiency will be much more around 285-300 mi (100%) which was my expected when I purchased

I think you’ll get at least 400 miles of range in city driving unless you drive like an “maniac”. Air conditioning doesn’t decrease the range much at all. I was typically getting well over 400 miles last summer in my EQS 580.

Do you have the SUV? I have the SUV. Getting 400 miles is 270w/mi which I feel is impossible right now. Let's see...I hope.

No, I have the sedan. However, I doubt it makes much difference but I could be mistaken.

No one I know including myself is getting close to the mileage with the SUV as with the Sedan. The SUV is heavier and the design not as aerodynamic. Even if I drive conservatively in warm weather 260 miles is the most I have recorded with a full charge and this is on flat ground. Others may be getting better….

You are right on the money. When the temps start dropping below zero expect a max range around 270 miles. Luckily for you, in the midwest, Michigan has by far the best DC charging infrastructure. Tips for winter.... Use the energy saving mode of the AC, keep the temp and the speed at 65! You will be rewarded with excellent range and no range anxiety.

Do people have summer and winter figures for EQS SUV ?

I am thinking of buying a CPO EQS SUV but worried about winter range in absence of heat pump.

The heat pump would only improve the aready excellent cold weather performance. Again 270 at super frigid temperatures is more range than most other EVs in summer!
The SUV verdion uses a heat pump. I don't know if the sedan does or will. It certainly doesnt need it. Tesla uses solid cells which tend to loose a lot of range in the cold, the packs in MB's seem to handle cold much better.
