Auto high beam?

This may have been discussed in some other thread. I have tried everything I could but I cannot get the automatic high beams to turn on in dark areas at night. I can obviously do this manually by pulling the turning signal stick towards me but why doesn’t it work by itself? Certainly Mercedes has this option on the EQS580, right?

First make sue the rotary light dial is on auto (middle position) then push the signal stalk forward. The headlight indicator on the screen will show 2 lights the green one (headight low beam on abd next to it another white healight with an A on it.

Thanks once again for your assistance. Amazingly enough, after reading the owners manual on the subject and prior to seeing your reply, I did exactly what you stated above a few minutes ago and I figured that I finally set it correctly.

FYI: I frequently drive on a very crooked residential street that has potential for deer running across the road. For this I set the rotary dial to manual and use the signal stick to keep the headlights on high all the time.

Interesting that we have the same driving conditions - and I keep it on Automatic.

Do they ever go full bright? Maybe my car has a problem. I’m on a street where most people drive about 30 mph.

Have not noticed. Due to illness, my 450 has been driven very little since late June and not at all in darkness.

With winter coming on, and if we’re out in my car, I should be able to check on it.

Are you saying yours never go full bright even if there are no cars around?

The high beam on European Multibeam LEDs automatically switch off when you are driving in an urban areas and only activate again when you drive out to an unlit rural road..

And here, in the States?

I’m not very likely to be driving my 450 in Europe!

Mine go to high beam almost immediately, on my residential street, when I pull away from the house. Then they return to low beam as I approach the stop sign at the end of the street. They function as they should, here in the US....well, at least in South Texas.

Is the street well lit? Mine don’t turn on in my neighborhood. I think the reason is that there are too many street lights. I have yet to see the high beams turn on automatically. I sure hope they turn on when I’m driving in roads that are dark now that I have it set up correctly.

Not very.. It turns back to low beams at the stop sign because the intersection is well lit. However, as I drive to the golf course, it regularly turn on high beams whenever the road is dark and no one is approaching.

You play golf in the dark? LOL. I know what you mean. I just drove back from my club and I sometimes drive back at night for dinner.

1st tee time is 7:32. It's a 30-45 minute drive, depending on rush hour traffic, so I leave in the dark this time of year. But, yes, I have played in the dark. Night golf, with glow in the dark ***** and glow disks in the holes is a lot of fun....especially with a lot of beer!
