Heated windshield?

I paid $1,000 for the heated windshield and I want to make sure I have that option. On the climate menu they’re a defroster. I turned it on about an hour ago (first snow of the season) to see how the windshield heater works. The defroster blower for the windshield turned on and quite loud. However, when I touched the windshield it felt cool. Does that mean it’s not working or I didn’t get that option even though I got charged. I have a feeling that I’m missing something on how to turn on the windshield heater. I read the manual and it says the windshield heater will be enabled automatically if the defroster is turned on. Maybe I didn’t have the defroster on long enough to feel the windshield getting hot.

I used the climate preconditioning yesterday. It melted the snow perfectly. I dont know if you turn it on any other way. It also runs the rear defroster automatically.

What if a person doesn’t care about preconditioning. It should be enabled if you turn on the defroster, right?

Its not battery preconditioning its interior temp "conditioning" you set the temp and and it will dobthe rest. Again I dont know it you can set the windshield warmer on separately. BTW the windshield doesnt get "hot" it simply gets warm enough to melt whatever is on it. Today I turned it on about 20min before my departure everything was ready to go when I got there. No snow cleaning necessary at all despite plenty of snow falling at the time. If you use the AC defroster it blows up a storm of really hot air. In my GLS ( which doesnt have a heated winshield) it blows so ferocious and hot that its actually uncomfortable after a couple of minutes.
