EQS 450+ Hyperscreen

Does any know how many 450+ (2022 or 23) were made with a hyperscreen and allocated to the US?

ALSO, has anyone had a problem with the door handle closing on your finger? Mine happened 2x already... Both caused blood blisters… second caused skin breakage and blood. Car is at dealer now for possible remedy. I don't want a 3rd time.

Love the car, but dealer is offering dirt for trade in… as market is crashing.

The only 2022s with hyper screen were early build cars (showroom units and trial production/pre production units) built between March and September 2021 before launch. Vins up to about 3500. I’ve seen pictures of maybe 30 hyper screen 450+s between photos of pre pro cars at cars and coffee and online listings, so I’d estimate there are maybe 50-100 out there in the US. Super super rare. But a few are for sale now (used). No USDM 2023s have been built with hyper screen to my knowledge.

All interesting...
I think, but am not certain that when I ordered my 450+ in the spring of '21, delivered to me Dec 27th, '21, that I could have ordered the Hyperscreen. However, I was not interested because I thought it was ugly, excessive, and costly.

Just out of curiosity, can you tell us your source for this authoritative sounding report?

I assume you're replying to me...
Yes, when early prepro cars were being built in Spring 2021, the hyperscreen was supposed to be available, and that was reflected in the ordering and in what cars were being built. But they weren't customer orders. I'm unsure whether the few cars I've seen with vins 32XX and 37XX were customer orders or still showroom units (MB specced cars meant to be the first to dealerships and not allowed to be sold for a few weeks to allow people to test drive, first set built after pre pro ends) but hyperscreen was discontinued from 450+ models before (or just after) customer specced vehicles began being built, around late September 2021. It never officially was discontinued but it was marked as constrained and quietly discontinued shortly after. I believe actual customer and dealer spec cars had not started production yet.

My sources are many things. First of all, the order guide, second my obsessive searching of car listings and search for window stickers/build sheets, and third a wonderful app called VINwiki that tracks cars based on their vin numbers. I don't have any insider knowledge i.e. I don't work for MB or a dealer but I'm rather obsessed and have collected quite a lot of info from my research.

Interesting. FYI, the two US 450+ last hyper screen cars I know about are 003620 and 003746. I’m pretty sure 3200s and 3300s are still showroom units, but I’m not quite sure when regular orders began production. It’s possible those two managed to make it through.
