What to do?

My EQS580 is coming in January. It will be my first EV ever. Any tips from veteran folks who have owned this beauty? What do I need to get and charging wise what is better for longer battery life? charge to 90% (no fast chargers unless in a hurry) then don't drop it to less than 20%? Also is a MB cross bar available for this thing or do I have to go aftermarket?

Follow the EQS manual of keeping it b/t 20 and 80 percent. As for level 3 charging......well if you drive on a regular basis of over 200 miles at least one day a week, you have to use a level 3 charger. Does your battery no good each time you do that. Unavoidable.

Say I drive from my house in Ft Worth to Whitecap Beach, Padre Island Texas. It's 435 miles one way. So I can't make it to San Antonio so I have to stop at Round Rock to charge back up to 89 percent. Then drive to San Antonio,Texas to charge back up to 80 percent. That should be enough to get me to Corpus Christi, Texas. All I want to do now is surf fish for six or seven hours and go back home. Oppps, no level 3 chargers b/t Corpus Christi and San Antonio. Lots of cuss words at this point, so I won't make the trip much less stay overnight in some overpriced hotel with maybe one ev charger that might/might not work. Large vacuum cleaner sound at this point.

Solution: take the Mercedes gas and get there in five and three quarters hour......fish.....go back home in five and three quarters hour. No gasing up in between end points. Car goes over 525 miles per fillup and you can drive 80 to 85 mph all the way . EV'S are still just regional cars and not much more than that.

Just imho and I'm sure others have their own opinions.

Totally agree, and so doe my son with his Taycan in Tucson - I've felt this way from the beginning, and it's why we kept our '18 S560.

If you plan on using public charging stations, make sure the dealership fully activates your Mercedes Me account. I left with a "It should work" and after not working was told "Give it a couple of weeks". In the app, you will see "My Services" in the "My Garage" portion. All charging services need to be activated.
