wiper fluid door is ugly but is beautiful with 4MATIC+ badge on AMG
I hope this thread doesn't add fuel to heated discussions of rebadging Merce with AMG emblem.

This is about the badge on the little door on the side.
I love the look of my EQS 580 sedan with AMG exterior and interior.
But why break up this beautiful car's clean body lines with something as boring and seldom-used as a windshield washer reservoir tank?
This little door on the front of the driver side fender, that you see several times every day, is a kind of eyesore.
My friends also ask about it and say it is the only thing they dislike.
Considering that we are not permitted to open the hood on our own car, they can't hide it under the hood anymore and this design will probably stay for the future models.
So I said to myself that probably we have to live with it.
Until I saw the small little door on AMG version of our cars with 4MATIC+ badge. Beautiful! Now the door is just a prefect background for the badge.
I ordered it and will put on my "cheap" 580.
I hope the AMG owners will "permit" me to do so since my car is 4Matic too. I know that little red plus means more sporty choices between the front and rear motors that my car doesn't have. I think you can turn off the front motor and other fun things.

I guess they could probably put the windshield washer door somewhere else but they have to put it outside of the hood as you know the hood can't be opened (well, it can be but you shouldn't I guess, that is a story for another time, in case if you do want to know how to open it, there are many threads on this on the forums).
The 4MATIC badge might not be a bad idea but maybe you could put something else there too instead, something still OEM at least. I don't know like the electrified badge on some MB models or maybe just put another "EQS" logo, but it might not be a good idea since there is already one on the pillar.
Most folks I would imagine just think the door is a charging port. I’ve had dozens of folks come to look and ride in my EQS SUV and not one has mentioned the door. If someone thinks it looks so horrible why then buy the vehicle. There are plenty of other options out there….

I guess it is subjective, I wouldn't say it is horrible but I would think OP is just nitpicking on an otherwise very nice vehicle, OP probably bought it for other things the vehicle provides and just not thaaat much of a fan of this door, it wouldn't had been a deal breaker I don't think.

I think iX's solution is most neat - just pop open the emblem on the hood to fill fluids.

The design of the car is not for everyone but I would agree with you on that feature, the rear camera washer is pretty neat too but then if BMW hid the camera when not in use like MB, it would never had been a problem I think.
BMW has Drive Recorder, which records all 4 camera's video at all times (to a buffer). So a hidden design like Mercedes would not work.
I would think and not surprised if Drive Recorder is an option, so for vehicles without it they could totally implement the pop out style ones. I mean there should be a disclaimer if you add this option this will be removed kind of like how MB does it with the flat steering wheel when back then they can't offer heated steering wheel with a flat bottom.

Drive Recorder is one those that can be added OTA via their BMW Connected Drive App Store. It is basically a software update, and a revenue opportunity for BMW.
And it doesn't make economic sense to have two different styles of rear camera as they would require a totally separate design in each case.

I like the location of the windshield washer fluid filler. Aren't they moving this on future models, and rebadging away from EQS also? I guess I like to be different, though. Sort of reminds me of early Deloreans which had the fuel filler door on the hood...quirk of history that is neat.

Definitely depends on personal preference, OP didn't like the lines being interrupted for example.
