Normal or not?

Today I was in the parking lot of a grocery store and took a call after I turned the car off. Whilst talking with the doors locked, the car kept unlocking and locking the door…I could hear the handles opening and retracting…should the car not know that the key is inside?? Is this normal? Thanks in advance for your comments.

It is normal for the handles to retract after a short amount of time. That does not necessarily lock the car, it just retracts the handles. This happens to me when I sit in the car or park in the garage without locking the car.
