Safety recall

Did anybody else receive this safety recall notice in the mail? Since there is no software remedy yet, is anybody alarmed by the failure to conform to FMV safety standards? My EQS is my daily driver and I intend to keep driving but would certainly like to avoid “battery malfunction that could result in increased risk of injury.”

Got mine Tuesday. Almost due for "service", was hoping to get MBUX software update along with this fix.

It seems like most EV's get a TSB or recall at some point for this sort of issue. My Jaguar has a nearly identical recall going on right now. For the Jaguar I Pace fleet, there's been like 3 fires, a dozen almosts, and the rest is precaution.

Yes, I got one today. Actually two letters from them, but I left the other letter at the other house and am way too lazy to drive over and see if it's the same thing. I'll just drive one of the other two cars till they send me another letter saying they have a fix.

IF that was the only car.......I'd be irritated to no end.

Way too bad Jag does not make good looking cars like they did in the past, Like XK's, XF's and XJL's. The I Pace looks ok but range is not so fine imho.

Well, keep in mind the I Pace came out in 2019 (2018 in Europe), so the range was fairly typical at the time. But agree with you about the beauty of the old cars vs. the new.

Since it is software only, I don't understand why the repair isn't ready, not like parts needs to be shipped from Germany, nothing to do with logistics.

It takes time to fully vet and distribute software. The recall may have been triggered by identification of a defect in the software, but it takes time to correct the bug, test it on vehicles to enough confidence that nothing else will regress, then ensure enough dealers have updated their XENTRY instance to actually distribute it out to cars. That said, both software recalls have gone live:

23V360 for the ESP software update. Remedy became available as of June 9.
23V405 for the electric drivetrain. Remedy went live today. The bulletin is out, but my VIN still shows up as "Recall Pending". I guess it might take a few days for VINs to be updated.

My CarPlay keeps crashing, I wonder if that is enough justification to have them update my MBUX from E329 to the latest?

Forgot to ask, although it shows pending for you VIN, is it marked on the VMI as opened?

That's strange my EQS 580 SUV doesn't show the recall on Mercedes' website. Not sure if that means it was fixed in mine or just not tested yet.

So we spent 100k on a new car and all that MB is going to do is to send a lame letter and a weak-*** apology? How about real compensation? Like we will waive your lease/loan payments until there is a solution.....

That's the kind of recall that an EQS needs...

Be reasonable. It is not a recall where you are told to stop using the car, park outside so on. If the issue was serious enough they would have said that. It sounds like this was one edge case not caught by software.

I had one such recall on a Nissan before where I was told not to park in a garage and go to dealer ASAP. So they happen.

Edit: Should have read earlier messages, didn't realize you were a troll.

Just like a 6 year old stomping his feet and crying because he doesn’t get his way. The comments became laughable a long time ago.

To think 6 year old is giving a lot of credit. I would've gone for 2.

It must SUCK to be a person who gets up in the morning and can only think of all of this negativity to spew.

Well, got my first warning sign for “steering assist inoperative, see owners manual.” Have noticed a few more of these type of warnings after the software update to E330x. I will see if it resets after being off for a few hours today. Am headed back for replacement of the steering wheel anyhow (faulty and prevented heated steering wheel from working) so can get diagnostics then if need be. Fingers crossed it doesn’t become something more serious. 🤞🏼

Did you lose power steering or does that warning refer to lane centering so on? My car when I did the first drive had a similar warning and lane assist/centering wasn't working, it was due to tire pressures not being set correctly.

OMG! Talk about bad publicity. Hopefully a wake up call to Mercedes, someone could have easily been killed.

Got mine done yesterday. Came for one update. Ended up with three. Havent had the hesitation, but I had rarely had it for a long time anyway.

That is almost exactly what it was. The sweltering heat had my right rear tire pressure as too low and the TPMS warning was on. All of the systems are linked. Once I filled the tire all warnings cleared and lane centering worked once again.

You will need to bring your car into the dealer for a software update. My car had the same problem. Meanwhile, while I waited to get in, the car drove normally including using the cruise control.
