Range increased

Anyone else experienced range increase since the recalls updates? I haven’t changed my driving habits. 80% almost 360 miles.

Haha! I thought that and it very well maybe but I’m in California and we have had good weather for most part. Plus 360 at 80% is more than EPA rating of 340 at 100%.

That is normal, the EPA 340@100% is highway, your 360@80% is probably your cars guestimate based on your city driving. You will get 360 city driving but you will not get 360 @ 70mph

What is your consumption rate? I think that it is safe to say you won't be getting 450 miles out of the car at 70 mph.

Your driving may have changed. I have gotten the same amount as you with mainly city driving (i.e. 40 mph, few stops and starts). I tested my 2023 450+ on a highway trip and consumption screen indicated I would get 380 miles at 70 mph (300 at 80 mph). Keep in mind that I am in Florida so it was warm and flat. My "test" was also made with no slowing and/or speeding up. So, ideal conditions. If you google real world range for MB EQS, you will see many examples of range far greater than 350.

I drove 115 miles from Miami to Jensen Beach yesterday (100% SOC) and pulled into the EA charging station @ 66% SOC. I averaged 75 mph for the freeway portion of the trip with the AC blowing 72f and the seat massagers running.

115 miles / 0.34 = 338 miles of range @ 75 mph

2022 EQS 580 with all recalls performed and the 21" AMG wheel package. 10K total mileage since July 2022.

Actually, I disagree. I had mentioned in another post that, since the most recent update, my SOC is much more accurate. This has resulted in perceived better range. Now, when it says 390 at 80%, I am actually getting very close to that. Admittedly, that is based on city driving, so if I go out on the highway at 75mph, it drops some, but the prediction is still very close to what I get since the recall update. On a recent road trip of 150 miles at highway speeds, i still had over 210 miles of predicted mileage left. I think the recall has much improved the drivetrain management of electricity.

The sedans are more efficient than the SUV's

For sure.....I guess we all should make it clear what we are driving. I don't think a two motor SUV is anywhere close in mileage to a single motor sedan. The 450+ is the clear mileage star of the fleet, so I have to remember that when comparing. But, I'm getting way more than 280 miles on an 80% charge.

By any chance did you use the treasure coast mall EA chargers in Jensen Beach. They are brand new, and the closest to my home in Hobe Sound. I left Florida for the summer before they came online. How did they work?

On a EV site called INSIDE EVS......there is a guy name Tom Molughney, that does 70 mph range tests. He got, I believe, 395 miles from a 100 percent charge to the state where the car would not move anymore. He drives on a loop in NJ where the land is flat and makes sure the wind in not a factor, as in less than 5mph.

I do not and will not drive on an interstate hwy at 70 mph ever. As in NEVER. The best I got going to Sweetwater Tx and back to Ft Worth, was last weekend where I got 3.4 kw a mile. Doing a steady 75 (that even sucks, the 75 that is). It's just a town car or regional car for me. Electrify America charging stations are flakey imho. At Sweetwater I used the 150 charger and it put out only 43kw, so after I got enough charge to get to Eastland, Texas, I moved to the 350 charger and all was well again. Comfortable car imho and quiet unlike a Tesla S Model.

Yes the Treasure Coast station. It is the nicest of all the EA stations I have been to. They even did a special paint job of the parking spots showing the charging speed of each charger. Sorry I did not take any pictures but you will like it. As far as I know all of the chargers are up and running.

Cheers.

Thx for the reply. I have driven by them before but they weren’t operational. Took them a couple of months to go live. I was using the EA station in palm beach gardens mall, which were in a parking garage and worked great. That’s a bit more of a drive for me so the Jensen beach chargers will be my go to charging station.

This is pretty much what I am seeing now, driving at ~80F.
