Build & Delivery Timeline Experiences
Hi All,
Recently placed an order for a EQS Saloon (mid Aug), understand that the build should be MY24. Does anyone have any experiences that would suggest likely timescales from ordering to delivery?
UK based and order placed via a Lease company.

Here in USA, dealers aren't taking MY24 orders yet. There are a lot of 23s sitting on lots. I am going to wait and order a 24 since it gets improved heat pump and hardware for Level 3 auto driving.

The order guide for 24 sedans is published, they are getting the heat pump but it doesn't contain any wording about level 3, lidar or updated driver assistance. Looks like that is delayed. I think every car that planned to have the more capable lidar units for level 3 driving is delayed in US now.

I have never order a new vehicle before just buy them off the lot. What is the process for ordering a new build MB? What is the minimum deposit or does the loan have to be finalized before placing the order or is it like ordering a Tesla?

Not for this car but previously when financing via PCP (in UK) a small deposit and credit check are completed at point of ordering, then PCP payments kick in once vehicle is handed over.
For the EQS, as this is being sourced via a employee scheme, no deposit is required. Vehicle is owned by a leasing company and payments start once vehicle is handed over. Models & Options can be chosen at point of ordering the vehicle.

Meet with Sales Agent. Select model, trim and options. Determine if there is one in stock or at another dealer, otherwise order is placed. Make a deposit, could be $1,000. The load is usually done later.
Depending on what is in the contract you may be able to cancel the order for a full refund of your deposit before taking delivery.
The downside of ordering vs off the lot is your ability to negotiate the final price. There is a compromise and price for every decision.

With EQS it looks like dealers are asking for 2k to 5k deposit when you order a custom build. I am not sure how allocations work but if it is the case that they don't have use them, that would explain the deposit since a dealer wouldn't order an EQS right now if it wasn't for your order as they have existing inventory.
