Front View Camera Auto Function

I’ve searched high and low, but I can’t seem to find any information on whether or not the EQS includes a specific feature I’m interested in. In my previous three Lexus cars, the front-facing camera of the panoramic view or 360 camera systems had an automatic mode that kicked in on the display when the car slowed down below a certain speed, typically around five mph. It was incredibly useful because it eliminated the need to manually press a button each time I needed to use the front-view camera. This feature was especially helpful when parking because it could be distracting to take my attention away from ensuring I pulled into the spot correctly. I’ve seen a similar automatic function that activates when augmented reality is active and a destination is set. Though I would love to be proven wrong, I’m not optimistic about the possibility of activating such a function. This is one of the few quibbles I’ve had so far.

Just a side note: I don't know about you, but I'll never be able to go back to driving a car without a front-view/360-camera system. It might seem ridiculous, but it's true. It's one of those features you never thought you'd need, and now you can't drive without it. During a test drive, I even felt anxious when I had to park in a spot without immediately knowing how to activate the front camera system on a different brand. It might seem like a trivial concern, but as technology and safety features continue to enhance and protect us during our driving experience, we become more reliant on them and less on our instincts. For me, it all started with my first car that had built-in navigation. It was a kinetic blue Acura TL Type S, and it was the beginning of the end. The machines are taking over!

Advanced driver assistance systems have revolutionized the way we drive cars. The front-view/360 camera system is one such feature that has become indispensable for many drivers. The system provides a comprehensive view of the surroundings, making parking and maneuvering in tight spaces easier and safer. The reliance on such technologies has led to a shift in our driving instincts. While it may seem trivial, the integration of navigation and other safety systems has paved the way for further advancements in the field.

UPDATE******

There is a setting that can adjust the sensitivity of the vehicle's cameras, which would allow them to automatically turn on when pulling straight into a parking spot. For a drive-thru scenario, it usually depends on how close you are to the building itself or drive-thru ordering machines (same idea as pulling into a parking spot). To adjust the sensitivity, you can go within the car screen in the center to Settings --> scroll down to Parking --> go to Time of Warning. At this point, you will want to make sure the "Front" is on early. That should allow the camera to automatically turn on when in either of those two situations.

Not exactly the same but on my EQE SUV anyways (I assume same for EQS) if you click the favorite icon after the camera button it remembers the GPS location and it'll pop out the cameras automatically next time. Comes in very handy if you have a Starbucks monkey on your back and 21" AMG rims... fookin' curbs.

Thanks, I've heard and seen that option before. Ouch! I've been there, done that! It's like the second it happens, you know what's in store once you check!

My wife's LX has that feature enabled. She loves it. I dislike it. But it's her ride. The EQS has a more intuitive feature. I don't know if it has to be enable and set properly, but my EQS will automatically bring up the front camera when I am going into the garage or closing in on a wall or surrounding. It does have the the surround view as well. This morning, I pulled into a gated drive way, and I wanted to bring up the camera. Right before I reached for the camera icon in the middle console, the surround camera came up with park distance sensor activated. I didn't touch a thing. I think it depends on how close you get to an object before the camera comes online.

While I appreciated the auto-activated camera feature in my Lexus, there were moments when it became intrusive. For instance, when I needed to view the navigation screen or access the information display at an intersection, the camera would keep turning on, which was inconvenient. As intuitive as most of MB's functions and features are, I know it's unlikely to recognize the difference when I need help navigating a tight corner or finding a parking space. Although the GPS-enabled favorites function is helpful, it's not exactly what I'm looking for. So, in the meantime, I'll test it out in an open parking spot without any obstructions and then try it again near a wall or other obstacle to see if it activates. Although there are some minor annoyances, I would prefer to have an auto-activation feature. I will continue to check for updates on this feature. Thanks for the feedback

In case you haven't already seen it, there is a configuration setting called "Traffic Light View". This one is likely why your camera keeps coming on at intersections.
I think I will be turning off this feature after a few more weeks of getting used to my new EQE SUV

I appreciate the reply. My apologies; I should have been more clear. I was referring to the system in the Lexus causing annoyance at intersections and stops. I'm still trying to find a solution for the EQS.

Until I test the changes, I won't know if they align with my goals, but I'm optimistic.

There's also GPS enabled camera too, but I think it only works for 1 location. I have it set at my house. Hence, when I pull up the drive way, the surround automatically comes on. As I pull closer to the garage, the top view of the image of the front and rears comes on too. On a different occasion, when I pull into a parking spot with a curb on 2 sides (front and side), the camera doesn't come on. I don't think the camera cares about curb rashes. However, I didn't test to see if PDC came on or not (top camera view). On my 7er, I have to manually turn on the PDC, but it does care about the front end curb and warns me.
