Angry EQS Steering wheel warning /heated steering wheel

Hi , Does anyone else's EQS 450 have a steering wheel that sometimes switches on when first getting into the car , which is set so it doesnt operate from the heated seat button on the door . I thought it might have been a new feature with one of the many dealer software 'upgrades' mine has had .. Its done it when temp has been 13 deg , as well as down to about 6 ... and today down to 3 degs ..but it doesnt do it all the time .. I dont know / cant find anything ion the menus which affects it , or the app ..This is just one of the irritating 'snags' mine has had , as well as the more serious steering wheel warning ( red and beep ) coming on for no reason and not going off for some 20 or so seconds , hands on the wheel all the time ..plus brakes occasionally feeling weird .. I've never had a car thats 'so nearly finished' before . I tried to get Mercedes to replace it , but apparently I've done too many miles ( 14 K ) even though the car has spent a documented nearly 2 months or so in their dealership . Sadly , although it's now better , not fit for purpose , Shame as it drives pretty well . The list of issues is to long to remember ..

Ah yes, this was so annoying especially since the only way to turn it off is to ask "my mercedes" :-(. I was about to bring my car to the dealer to have the steering wheel heating physically disabled but I figured out the cause... it's the "pre-entry climate control" (in the climate menu). I had it set to start on opening the car -- this activated not only the AC but also the steering wheel heating.. but does not turn it off once the you "start" the car. I think that's a bug BTW. Anyway, turning off pre- entry climate control fixed the issue for me which is a reasonable workaround :-)

I’ll try that in the pre entry climate menu , thanks , mine is random , doesn’t do it every time ( more often that not ) ..but TBH , it’s just another thing that isn’t right with the car ..it’s not ‘a quirk’ , it’s something not done / built properly , I don’t expect to have to be Mercedes tester on a hundred plus K car ..the menus to get to anything are mental ..

thanks for 5e input

Ah, for me it was "random" too -- it doesn't enable the steering wheel heating always; I think that is the case whenever the pre-entry climate control didn't start. Not entirely sure what the conditions for that are exactly, but, for example, when you just drove the car and the temperature inside is still good, or if you open the front door immediately etc.

It's a software bug for sure that it doesn't stop the heater after you start the car -- a quirk... and it should not be in such an expensive car ... 🙄 I wish mercedes would fix these kind of issues with more OTA updates!

On the other hand, it's also a fantastic car with such a nice luxury drive feel 😀 I really enjoy driving it every time, and the MBUX UI in my opinion is quite good overall -- and in some ways more easy than other systems I have used (like the Taycan). Doug Demuro thinks it is one of the best out there, even nicer than the Tesla one 😄 (
-- starts at around 13min)

(BTW, I'm not trying to disregard/minimize your issues with the car. I got a recent 2023 model with E330.620 software and for me I have just a few minor annoyances so far (beside the steering wheel heating one!))

I just looked in the pre entry climate control quickly .. and there is nothing I could see quickly that insinuates or says anything about heat fed steering wheel , just the option to ‘nominate’ a seat , presumably to switch that one with pre entry . I’ll have a deeper look when I get time ..

Ah, there is no setting just for steering wheel heating. You need to turn off the "activation when unlocked" pre- entry climate control.
I.e.:
