Standard Tires question

Run flats all season tires are very difficult to find right now. I have decided to go with standard all season Perrelli tires. Question is, for emergency should I buy a battery powered tire inflator or go with a fix a flat foam can? Any suggestions on the inflator models will be appreciated.

I did the same, got rid of my run flats. Got the AirMan ResQ Pro+ tire repair kit. Haven't had to use it so can't say how it works.

I thought all EQS came with an air compressor and a can of sealant. My came with it.

My SUV has a compressor and can of stop-leak. While you're checking to see if you have one check to see if the stop-leak leaked, mine did. I understand that it's a known issue, my SA is replacing it under warranty.

However, I never intend to use it. The new silent tires with a foam insert wind up being impossible to cleanup after it's use. I also found that it's very difficult to cleanup where it leaked in the boot.

An air compressor and sealant are only included if your car was not factory equipped with runflats. My EQS SUV, with Goodyear RunOnFlats, did not included an air compressor. I purchased a Tesla compressor and sealant kit for about $70. Tesla has since changed the air compressor and the current price is $125.

I also carry a tire plug repair kit in the car. I would probably get the Griot's Garage compressor kit if I needed to replace the Tesla unit.

I toss my Ryobi tire inflator in the car whenever I road trip. Just replaced my old one with the new model on the advice of a forum member actually:

My Mini, Porsche, M4 and M550 did not have a spare tire. My M550 did have runflats. I also toured much of the Southern US on either a 2003 Harley Road King, or a 2006 BMW R1200RT, or a 2009 Honda Goldwing, all without any spare. I still have the Dynaplug device and a12V tire inflater which I always carried. I know catastrophic tire failures do occur, but they are rare. Usually, it's just a nail, and an inflater is all you need. I was about three hours out of San Antonio in my 2014 E350 when I got the low pressure warning for a back tire. There was a nail in it. I inflated it and continued driving, all the way to Pinehurst, NC. I had to inflate it again each morning, but then drove back to San Antonio before I had it repaired. Worry about a flat is way overrated, IMHO. If you have a catastrophic failure, it will cost you time and some money. But, most likely, you will be fine with an inflater and some slime or a Dynaplug kit (or both). YMMV.

I had runflats on my BMW 7er blow out. Stupid thing wasn't even worn with 15K miles. I got rid of the runflats, bought a slime compressor kit from ebay for about $45 (I think), and I have not used it in the last 8 or 9 years. .

I don’t have any experience with the tire inflators. Are there any out there that can be powered by USB C if battery of the inflator is down? Since I don’t have 12V outlet (cigarette lighter) in the car can I get one installed? I tried USB C to lighter but it didn’t work. I get message that it’s drawing too much power.
appreciate all your help.

I prefer run flats. While a tire inflator kit is a good fallback. Nothing beats a run flat for convenience when you have a puncture. I’ve claimed the tire insurance on my EQS 3 times in less than 2 years.

The newer inflaters have built in Li-on batteries for as little as $29 on Amazon. But look for the ones where the inflators screws into the Schrader valve of your tire. It works better. Lots of these inflators on Amazon for sale.

There is a 12V lighter plug down on the passenger side console below the glove box release. I use mine for a radar detector.

If you don't have an inflatable spare, an inflator and a sealant kit in your car from the factory, then it does not have a 12V lighter plug. However, you can have your dealer install one.
