I just returned from vacation and I was pleasantly surprised by a notification telling me that a service update (Service Campaign 2023070020) is available for my 2023 EQS 580 at my dealer with the following improvements:
Increased system robustness
Increased augmented reality camera quality
Implementation of the Zync-App for video streaming via the head unit
My dealer offered those updates while my car was in for a tire replacement, but I declined.
Not needed. I wish they could come up with an update to improve the outward visibility in the sedan!
I thought maybe you were simply talking about the update to MBUX 2.4 (E330....) because it mentioned Dolby Atmos, Zync, etc.
But looking at the link you provided, it looks like there's going to be a LOT more updated than just that!
My MBUX 2.4 (E330...) update happened Over-the-Air one night last November while my car was at home.
Is this so called major update something newer than the E445? The E445 which the dealer installed sucks to put it mildly. I figured back last fall that the newer the update the better. I was wrong.
Did they ever get your issues sorted out? Did they downgrade?
I didn’t bother to bring it to the dealer and leave it there for a day or two to see if they could figure out what to do. I was told that they cannot remove the E455. Since I found an easy fix myself with the climate control system (occasionally I cannot change the temperature settings), I decided I wouldn’t bother with the dealer. All I have to do to get it working properly is turn on the windshield defroster for a second or two and bingo. It works again.
so I ask again. What is this major update called? If it’s E455, it’s now old news.

Sounds like a software bug which requires a re-install.
I have the same software and have never experienced this issue.

Our is scheduled for its 20,000 mile service soon. I'm thinking I should not install the new software...would you elaborate on what is not working well with the new update?

The major issue is with climate control settings. Also it was suppose to improve lane change assist and I think a couple other settings but I can’t recall now.
According to “stealth” the update should be re-installed.
