ECO v ECO+ V Comfort climate control

I noticed that dropping down to ECO from comfort is not much of a difference in range but switching to ECO+ can change it as much as 30 miles of range. The eco+ doesn't seem to give enough heat in the winter though. Does anyone know why this is? Basically, by switching to comfort, I am only getting 310 miles of range. I also did a range reset in the sport dashboard mode to make sure my range was correct.

There is not much that eco vs comfort modes can do in an EV compared to ICE cars. All it does is to adjust the accelerator so be softer and the peak power on full throttle to be lower. That helps for sure, but you can still get the same estimated mileage in Comfort mode if you drive it without pushing it too hard. Unlike ICE wherein some cars deactivates 2, 3 or 4 cylinders, there is much that EV can do. AC can make a difference, but I think recently new EQS builds have a heat pump so in all cases they are already very efficient and don’t consume that much of power. 30 miles of range from a car with a standard 300-340 range is impressive, but I bet you can still get the same additional 30 miles if you drive it carefully without pushing it too hard in Comfort mode.

I think OP is talking about the ECO and ECO+ settings within the climate control, not the drive mode setting.

From the main menu, enter the Climate Menu, then you can toggle among ECO/ECO+/off. ECO doesn't seem to do much, but ECO+ restricts the cooling capacity and greatly reduces or turns off the resistive cabin heater. Both modes reduce dehumidification by running the AC at a lower speed, it seems. It's probably in the 700 page manual. :-) 2024 models have heat pumps, although doing so added something like 5 miles to the range. I know back in the day, on the MB Electric B-class and the other 90-mile EVs, the resistive cabin heater could easily eat 1/3 of your range, which meant the difference between getting home or not.

I have a difference of 30 miles between comfort heat mode and eco+ mode. Is that normal? There is only a 2 mile decrease from comfort mode to eco mode. What are most of you using and do you experience the same decline in range?

Today it is 29 degree outside and I am getting a 40 mile difference between comfort and eco+ climate settings. Is this the norm? I am at 67% charge with min 185 miles and max 221.

Unfortunately, I have the latest software update (E445) and I don’t have the option of Eco+ or Eco++ like I did with the previous update. However, I don’t think it makes a difference if I have the setting on Eco and the temperature reading at around 65 degrees when it’s cold. I would like to hear the experience of any others who have installed the E445.

Question related to this topic of ECO, ECO+ and ECO++ climate control settings. How on earth do I make climate control settings to just provide "vent" of outdoor air. Sometimes I just want to have an airflow of outside air without a lot of other climate control gymnastics. I presume that if there is a straight vent option, the air is still being filtered through the HEPA filters. The closest I've come to just getting a flow of outdoor air into the car is setting the climate control system to ECO++ and lowering the temperature to at or below the outside air temperature. Am I missing something? And is there an easier and faster way to just vent outdoor air into the car while driving?
