Can't install OTA Update
I just got the same error. I assumed that "Correct Vehicle Status (change start/stop button)" meant that I should turn the car back on. It turns out that I was right. Once I pushed the Start Button, the update went to the next screen and from there I was able to initiate the install.

i have a smilar issue with my EQS SUV and OTA MBUX 2.6.1.
it has popped up and says it can be installed after the drive and technical requirements are fulfilled.
It never happens though. And I do not know what the technical requirements are! I have not been able to find any information and by now I am quite upset.
Anyone has any ideas? Or suggestions? Can I force the update?

At the end of 2024, I went from E330 to E504 (still MBUX 2.4, I believe), but I had to take it to the dealer to get it done. MB Sweden told me they had shut off OTA updates. For what reason and for how long, I do not know.
So, if you're getting some "noise" about a 2.6.1 update OTA, I find that very interesting and encouraging.
Anyway, I hope you post further here if you eventually have success with this update!

I'm also from Sweden! However - we'll keep it in english for others to get involved and maybe contribute.

I just had a call with my car service contact. We had a good call - "a very good call, maybe the best call, perfect if you ask me" (never mind reference).
Anyway, when we talked a bit he said OTA should work so no information about a general stop. He knew about a larger update though which other had had to get into the dealer to install. When I said it seems to be MBUX 2.6.1 I had issues with, it proved to be The Big One. Now I'm booked for a physical visit to get the OTA MBUX 2.6.1 installed.
He mentioned that other cars with MBUX - not only EQS SUV - also had issues. I was hoping for a 10-20 minutes pit stop and a cup of americano. I mean - hey - a computer or two with 4 wheels, 4 engines, a bunch of screens, speakers and a steering wheel attached - how bad can it be? It turns out he had done installations at the dealers facilities which had taken between 2 to 5 hours to complete.
I'll will try to come back and follow up on this one. If it helps others its for a good cause!
My uneducated guess is that MB still has a lot of experience to gain on OTA in practice, not to mention software and updates no matter if they are OTA or done by the dealers.

I have sound drive and don't have 2.6.1 installed and the 2 6 1 install is stilled labeled as not installed in the app. So I opened a case with MBUSA and was told at least for my 2022 EQS AMG that I am running the latest SW for my car and I could disregard the msg about 2 6.1....sounds crappy that I got to see this everytime I check for OTAs. Sound drive is weird for me and my wife and have not used it but 2 or 3 times with a few of the songs that it uses. I did get updated to my current SW version at the dealership during my last visit a few month ago I am almost sure I posted this in another thread
I have a SW ver RL_NTG7_E445.001_23364AC3. Is the E445 something like the version you mention @ScottC2 ? I get a bit confused but on the other hand I'm interested in 2.6.1, Well...
Function wise, I'm more interested in the routing functionality which comes with 2.6.1 where it will suggest alternative routes besides the "optimal". I rely on Apple Music and Car Play for music and I have assumed that the Sound Drive may not work integrated with Apple Car Play.

I can't put my fingers on it right now, but I recall seeing a thread some time back where an EQS owner was having quite some problems after his MBUX was upgraded from E330 to E445, so it's good that you made an appointment with the dealer for an upgrade to get off of E445.
Yes. My full MBUX version number was RL_NTG7_E330.703_23472AC3 until my dealer recently upgraded it to RL_NTG7_E504.304_24133AC3, hopping right over E445. Among other things, this enabled digital headlight custom options for the light-show that plays when you start and stop the car. It's cool, but the user interface design for managing this is very tedious and lame.

Took from 08:15 to 14:00.
I can now see different routes when planning my ride which is what I was looking for. A couple of issues I had is also corrected. Have not tested all things but it seems ok so far. Notifications about update seems to have disappeared.

12v battery involved

I have just received my EQS SUV 2024 model back. Once again OTA did not work. All the issues with repeated reference to technical circumstances was back. This time around the combined intelligence of my local dealer and MB central support concluded that the 12V battery was behind. It was broken and did not supply enough to keep all functions going.
I had more issues such as the touch in the touch-screens did not work, navigation did not work in the drivers display and the car used some 5-9 percent of the battery over night.
I’m now testing but so far so good.
