Where do you park your car in winter with summer tires?Originally Posted by Lanzz
You could get by with summer tires in NYC. Not ideal, but I drove my 2000 Camaro SS with summer tires for 3 years in Manhattan, LI and upstate. Was only a white knuckle experience once when I was caught in a snowstorm coming back from upstate - would not do that again... At most, I would put a set of all season tires on your EQS - even with winter tires, an EQS would be a sled in the snow, I would avoid driving in that type of weather if you could.

Oddly yes if you downgrade to 19” rims. Recommended 235/55/19 have extremely similar dimensions to lower profile OEM 265/40/21, so that’s the 19” takeoff rim’s tire if you want winter tires. Just make sure you get XL rating like 105.

Note: these are the winter slickers! For snow, narrower and more sidewsll is best. Visually, it looks indistinguishable from the EQS 450 since its the same rims. The particular tire, Latitude Alpin is not available in the US. I think this was a one time purchase from the dealers to have snow tires and rims for US early adopters. I don't know if it is available anymore. The tires are quite good in any snow condition and are acceptable "performancewise". They have gone through 2 winters, including my 4000 mile round trip to Seattle and back with minimal wear. I would guesstimate that they will go with at least one more season with intact snow performance and quite a bit more tread left. No complaints at all. Again, there is no need to fret. If you need a winter set the dealer should have something to offer that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, works very well and doesn't look ugly.

My Maybach doesn't have all season tires. I may keep the summer tires on (and park it in my garage) and drive it once in a while in winter.
