Who is IONNA?

I came across this page: https://group.mercedes-benz.com/inno...ure-ionna.html

"IONNA is a joint venture between eight of the world's largest automakers, including BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota. IONNA is developing a nationwide network of charging stations with the goal of providing over 30,000 charging points by 2030. The network will include cutting-edge technology, retail integration, amenities, and customer service."

The concept looks promising, but so far I haven't seen or heard anything about it. Has anyone of you ever seen it?

The question is simple: If there aren’t enough charging stations, you just go to the nearest available one—even in the rain without a roof. IONNA’s approach is good, but only if there’s an alternative to choose from. For instance, having an Electrify America station next to an IONNA station. I don’t think anyone would drive 20 extra minutes just to charge at an IONNA station. However, if IONNA secures the funding to build thousands of stations, it could become a solid standard—like a better gas station.

What do you think? If you need to charge and there’s an EA station or Tesla dock nearby, would you take a 15/30/45 -minute detour for it? If not, what would motivate you to do so?
I think this is an interesting discussion for the future.

Let’s share your opinions so IONNA can make it perfect.

I expect that at some point in the future it will come down to $/kW, just like picking gas stations now all else being equivalent.

Just started in the US. Mainly in main southern hubs. I doubt we'll see any in the midwest for years. The roll out rate for fast chargers is ridiculously low even in places like Minneapolis and Madison. In Chicago its not much better. After 3 years still the same old story. Utterly stupid situation. Particularly given the range limitations that cold weather more than half the year impose here.
