Automatic OTA Map Updates

I mean if subscriber to his services, then the list is available as per the subscription. Obviously don't subscribe just to find out what the updates were, I am trying to say it was part of what is available as part of the subscription. For typical and simple car diagnostics, a obd scanner is good enough.

I also have a 23 EQS and just received my first OTA map update as I took the car out for it's first road trip to Ohio. Crazy thing is Tennessee, Ohio , Kentucky are the maps that updated while I was traveling. I think as soon as I left GA and entered Tennessee i saw the notification on my nav and it asked me to reset right after. But I don't have a update for my home state of GA ironically so I have to manually download that one. No real thyme or reason for the OTA working once I leave my state but not uploading my original state. Even my wife's Audi eTron at least updated the home state.

The 24 and up models can get downloads I do believe, but my specific ETron (2020) only does OTA and no downloads are available online anymore(since 2024). Her car never actually updated OTA except for original region and in order to get OTA you MUST have a Audi-connect subscription( 6mos for $199). So I had to go find maps off the internet and upload them manually.

Ever since i got my 22 year eqs the map never updated even though i pay for updates and it always stayed on Version 7. I finally got the time to download manually for my region Version 22 and installed. The system shows the new version for my region but i don't see any difference in the map display, so not sure what exactly is being updated. I've driven several loaners newer models and their map for example has the buildings outlines and also the red cursor has some kind of glow around it. Mine is the same red triangle icon. Anyway, just wondering if anyone know whats the difference.

Well despite assurances that my car would start to download new maps automatically after being in the shop for over 2 days, new versions of maps are out and my car did not load them. I did the manual download like before and after it loaded the maps it asked to restart navigation to activate them. I hit the restart navigation button and up pops map data incompatible error message and navigation screen is now blank. This happened to me once before during manual update so I didn’t panic but instead shut the car off, locked the doors and left it for 20 minutes or so. Started car up and presto, new maps loaded successfully and navigation working fine. Just wanted to let people know if you upload the maps manually and get error message after loading the maps, letting the car reset itself should clear everything up.

I had my EQS just over two years and have not once received an OTA automatic map update. I complained to my dealer about this as it’s a PIA to update the maps manually. Car was in shop for routine maintenance recently and they tried updating everything under the sun, and contacted multiple people in the German factory for help and said my car should update by itself now. Just checked and a new map version is out V22/2025. And of course my Toyota car didn’t update. For people who the update works automatically, how long after it’s released do you get the update. Also some said when they drive to a new section of map it triggers the update. I’m in south Florida and don’t plan on driving out of Florida anytime soon. The roads haven’t changed much but the construction here in South Florida is relentless, and I do appreciate up to date maps especially for the POI. I did look at a new development in Port St. Lucie recently and the navigation didn’t map out the roads in the development. I ended up driving in circles till my son broke out google maps and showed us the way.
