EQS AMG tires

I just recently replaced all 4 tires on my EQS AMG with Michelin Pilot Sport EVs. These EV tires are absolute crap. They are noisy, handle much worse than the stock Yokohamas, and are utterly worthless in the rain. I have only had them for a week, so I am going to see if Discount Tire will allow me to return them. I am surprised, since all the other Michelins I have bought were really good.

I really want an all-season tire but it seems like there are none for the EQS AMG. Anybody have any suggestions?

I am glad you posted this! Literally in the past hour, I have been comparing the Michelin PS 4S with the PS EV, like you have. Very limited reviews on the EV’s, and what’s there complain mostly about the acoustic foam coming lose and causing a large tire imbalance. The PS 4S’s have great reviews. I am just leery of putting such a soft tire on my AMG EQS. I only have 11,000 miles and my OEM Yokohama tires are already bald. I wanted a firmer tread. I guess I’ll still go for the PS 4S.

I just hope they are as quiet as the Yokohama tires were, but last longer.

Not sure why you believe PS4's are a soft tire. I've run both the UHP PS4 All Season and the UHP PS4 tires on my S63 and I would call either of them soft. They aren't horrible like run flats, but they aren't nearly as soft or compliant as HP or touring car tires.

I guess I am comparing them to the Michelin EV tire which I assume is made with a firmer rubber compound due to the higher weight of the EV it’s designed for. I also ran Pilot Sport Cup on my Tesla Plaid and I assume they are just slightly softer than the 4S tires. I only got 15,000 miles out of those. The EV tires get bad reviews, mostly regarding the acoustic foam breaking loose. That’s why I think the 4S is a good compromise. Softer than the EV tires, but firmer than the Cups and hopefully firmer than the Yokohamas.

I have the PS4 AS from the factory. I don’t think they wear that well either. Mine are down to 5/32 after 8500 miles.

Discount tire has agreed to take the Michelin's back (I barely drove 20 miles on them). I am going to try Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season, which are technically an SUV tire. However, they have the load bearing ability. I expect to lose some range and handling, but given that I drive in wet conditions (a lot) I need an all season tire.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I had Conti cross contact LX sport that i got my eqs 580 with and recently had a nail in and they were about worn out at 18000 miles so I just replaced them with the Pirelli Scorpion Zero A/S Plus and so far all is good and I like them.. the ride is smooth and cant tell any noise difference from the conti that had the noise isolation inside.. it sounds the same to me now with the new ones.. Have not seen any change in range for the last couple of charges i had.

The stock Michelin PS EV are quiet until they start to wear unevenly on the inside. That's when the noise starts. I recently replaced mine at 13.5K with Continential DWS 06. On asphalt, they are super quiet, but on concrete, there are some noise as usual. Overall, they are as quiet as the PS EV. Only time will tell when they start to wear out and make some noises.

In a separate post I mentioned that I swapped the factory installed summer tires for all seasons. I have the 22 inches wheels and the new tires that the Mercedes dealership installed are the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season. I only have had them for a week but drove to Mammoth Lake and it was very noticeable how quieter and more comfortable they were compared to the summer tires. That said, in warmer temperatures it is also noticeable that they don’t feel as planted in sharp turns as the summer tires.
