Mercedes Will Pause EQ Production

This article about MB pausing production of US-bound first general EQ cars on Sept 1 just appeared on InsideEVs.
https://insideevs.com/news/766347/me...use-september/

This may well change some people's plans. This seems to be a temporary pause but no information on how temporary or what may follow.

I thought it was because of the tariffs but all EQ models? What about those with EQ Technology like the G-wagen fully electric one, what about made in USA EQ models.

I think tariffs are certainly a large factor in MB's decision. Another major determinant seems to be EV tax credits (lease incentives) or the end of them as is the case here.
The G-wagon EV is a next generation EV and will continue as far as I can tell even though it doesn't seem to be well received by current owners. I don't know if USA EQ models will continue to be made in the US for world distribution but it seems they will no longer be delivered to the US after September 1st. It does seem like tariffs are the issue here and MB will be looking to increase made in the USA content for the vehicles it assembles at it's US factories.

EV credits is a good point.

Jaguar produced no new cars for 2025 and will only produce EV’s beginning in 2026. A brilliant decision (NOT!).
Could be the end of them.

I think a major factor is dismal sales. Lack of credits will only exacerbate it.
