Financing and VIN
Hello,
For anyone who has done ED and financed the vehicle. When do you make the final payment and to whom prior to delivery? When are you able to get the VIN for financing purposes? Thanks.

You make final payment to your dealership. They should provide you with a dealer invoice listing the car info (including VIN---which should be available on their netstar system once the car has been produced). You provide this to your financing company (or bank) who will issue the check to the dealership via overnight or so. You should sign all paperwork and have payment made (or sent by your financing company to the dealership) at least 20 days prior to your scheduled delivery date. This is to ensure the ED department has enough time to process your paperwork and have their associates in Germany process your insurance and temp tags. This is unfortunate because you pretty much are making payments on a car that is not in your possession yet, but I digress. After your payment has been made, your dealership will print you out a "confirmation of order" which is the main document alongside your passport required to pickup your car. On delivery day, you provide them the confirmation of order plus your passport and they will work on the paperwork while you mill around for some time, either having lunch or doing the factory tour.
