Someone asked me about what this event is. As this below would have been totally OT there, I'm posting it here...
- Meet @ the side-door of MBUSA in Montvalle NJ. You can see some pix in the 1st post of this thread and many pictures in my gallery; click my sig pic and you'll fing the gallery on the left (1st Annual Somethingorother...). Their Cafeteria is just inside, and where the indoor part of the day's festivities takes place.
- They have breakfast in the back of the hall during that part of the event. (I didn't realize)
- We all line up our cars over a few hours and are taped making a few statements about our rides and Mercedes. They make a DVD of the event and mail it to us a few months later (no charge).
- We can BS during. I wish people wore nametags & forum aliases tho; would have promoted speaking to stangers IMO. I and many were a bit 'shy'.
- Then lunch is served, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was really good, with several carving stations too of a few different meats.
- Then the organizer gave an in depth presentation about AMG and upcoming plans, with some early information (nothing the press didn't know tho I bet)
- there was then a Q&A with him and a technical marketing guy who came from the tuning industry who was very knowledgable. So much so that after coralling (sic) him @ the very end I was finally able to understand once and for all what would be involved (and what I would lose) if I were to go forward with a manual tranni swap in my car (not even the master who did my motor swap, who practially rebuilding the enitre engine 1st, was able to answer that so well). So by that I mean, we didn't get a bubbly sexy woman from marketing, we got a grease under his nails tuner guy who knew MB/AMG very very well who could actually do us some good!
I checked-in with MB Events about the AMG Challenge I'm going to @ the end of this month , and asked about this event while I had the guy on the phone. He was there last year, and said it should be pretty much the same this year. ...then tho, there's the stuff Pete can't talk about, maybe... If it don't rain, this should be a sweet event Here's hoping we won't be able to fit all the cars in the lower parking lot.
So all...
1) E-mail Pete @ the address he posted in the 1st message in this thread with your personal and vehicle info he requested... (no, you don't need an AMG)
2) Wash, Polish, Wax, Pamper your car all nice and special... (ignore the collective rock chip called my bumper please)
3) And be there!
P.S. last years participants, correct me where I'm wrong and supplement anything you found notable.

WE had a presentation from Rob allen, gave us a nice intro the 6.3l engine and why they were doing and what they had done with it. You get to walk and talk to lots of folks from the forum. Get to openly chat with the tranny specialist and rob allen and they always drop some info you would not have heard otherwise.
All in all its good stuff so people keep signing up via the email link.

Is there an "official" or "recommended" hotel near MBUSA? I am making plans to attend, but would like to stay where everyone will be on Friday and Saturday evenings if possible.
Thanks!
Thanks!
