AMGFest was fun, we were anticipating a lot larger crowd to come out but in the end not even half of the registered people came, question is why?

Maybe because they didnt have to pay ? And if they did ... they missed out either way.

Alot of people from MD had previous plans and others just bailed atthe last minute. I guess cuz people are scared of the rain!

Rain I guess. You should have people pay in advance, so they'll HAVE to come.

I was also a bit dissapointed, lots of people who said they were coming for Saturday who registered put me in a VERY tough spot. When I report to MBUSA telling them that we have 65 cars registered for an event with well over 150 people and they purchase food and gifts for 150 people and only 40 people come, it puts me in a rough spot. It didnt even rain all that much during the event.

To those of you who did show up, thank you for coming and you got even more goodies to compensate

Bro, going every year is the most fun. I came back from school to go to this! Its sad to see so many people register, but then so few show up. Those that did, many were return members from last year, but we a got a few new ones. As always its good to have any amount of cars. Rain or No rain.

I'm glad to see this thread. I was extremely disappointed in the lack of conviction of the MB owners who did not show up. ... someone used the term "high flake factor" in reference to MB owners. I expect this to be the last year MB Headquarters rolls out the red carpet for us.

Though, at the same time, why MBUSA didn't take even 10 seconds to mention this meet during the AMG Challenge in Lime Rock ...?... most there were from the area.

Yeah I know. The people that register are what makes these events happen. If people keep bailing then I don't expect MBUSA to allow this again, EVER. It's just a waste of their time, money and resources.

Bunch of wussies! scared of a little rain! they will never know what fun they missed,...on the real, People should not commit if they are not gonna show! (emergencies aside) A lot of hard work goes into one of these events, and the money that was laid out by MBUSA etc...makes me think that next year we will have to pay to get the same thing.

why do people register if they do not plan on attending@!@$#
next year make it $20 a person, we could get polo shirts or something to compensate. i think just for fun you should post a list of every person that registered but did not come, you know for some public humiliation!

People register just in case they want to go. There is no penalty for not showing up so I guess they just decided they didnt want to come. We should all throw in 20 bucks or whatever next time and rent an SLR for the day and go nutz on a track! I bet alot of people would show up then. I know I got alot of people who couldnt make it asking me to grab them goody bags.

I was just throwing a number out there. So by your calculations to rent an SLR is close to 100 grand an hour. Ummmmm yea...

if we had 100 people... i was thinking more like 10 people. and per day. probably like 5k or 10k per day. i know the old F360 goes for 2-3k.

Thank you - I appreciate someone quoting me on the "high flake factor".

I've organized several local meets, and it's always this way. Even when there's free food, etc. Saying it comes with the territory may seem like a trite response, but it's also true, unfortunately.

I don't think that there's really any way to guarantee that people are going to show. I didn't stay for lunch, so I don't know how nice the lunch was, but to a company that large, the costs associated with this event are a drop in the bucket. And they should understand about no shows; there must have been an event coordinator there who does these things, and is familiar with participant projections.

On the other hand, maybe if the event were changed so that it wasn't 5 hours of sitting around and talking, and either shorter or with a driving portion, more people might have showed up. And of course, you can't change the weather. Sh*t happens.
