10/21/06 SLK Meet/Drive - Monterey to San Simeon
Mercedes Benz SLK roadster owners are invited to meet rain or shine at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 21st in the parking lot at the Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey for display of their cars and camaraderie (meet and greet, show and shine). We will meet in parking lot in front of the Petco and Rite Aid. Taking Exit 399C(Munras) from Hwy 1 and then 2 right turns to the shopping center works well:

We will leave around noon for a drive down the coast where we will lunch at Big Sur's Nepenthe. You can get info and the menu at:

After lunch, we continue our ride to San Simeon. For those interested, we will get together in the San Simeon area for a group dinner.
We are considering the San Simeon Beach Bar & Grill:

We currently have 15 confirmed cars with another 4 "maybes," but this month, of all of them, has many more R170's and only a couple of R171's with one 55 as a "maybe." It's actually ironic, since we usually have a 55 or two at most our drives, even one Kleeman S-7 55 that comes frequently but has a conflict tommorow. We'll hope the "maybe" 55 is there...

Thanks to organizer/leaders Chuck and Sam, we had a FANTASTIC meet and drive for October. We had 15 SLK's participate. From the meet in Monterey with beautiful weather, we followed highway one down through Carmel and the coast to Big Sur where we dined at Nepenthe! After lunch, eleven cars filled with participants drove on to San Simeon.
