Quite right, Tom Claridges used to own the BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz dealership there. He sold the BMW dealership to autonation several years ago (made a fortune on that one because he sold half of it for stock which appreciated). And sold the Mercedes-Benz and Porsche about a year or so ago to Fletcher Jones Jr. Junior's brother in law (I think it's the brother in law) runs the place now.
I was Tom's neighbor until 2001, however I've heard he got divorced recently very recently. Perhaps his divorcee wanted a portion of the money from the dealership? He also did speak of retiring and moving to the Sacramento area in the past.
