Nasa Update - January 26 & 27 Las Vegas

Forwarded for a friend:

Hi Everyone,

If you are receiving this email, you have expressed interest in Nasa events, or are a Nasa member. Nasa has undergone many changes in the last few months, as outlined in your recent copy of Speednews and accompanied letter from Ryan Flaherty. Ryan has assumed the position of National Chairman, and I have assumed the position of Regional Director for the Las Vegas Chapter. Nasa has a new website that has been totally revamped and very easy to use: www.nasaproracing.com. You can now renew your membership, enter events, check results, and obtain forms and rules, all on-line, 24-7.

The Las Vegas Chapter is pleased to announce our next event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 1.8 mile club road course on January 26th and 27th, 2002. We will be hosting the BMWCCA with their first club race for the 2002 season, along with HPDE, Race Groups, and a 2-hour Enduro on Saturday afternoon.

1. High Performance Driving Events (HPDE)
Our High Performance Driving Events (HPDE) let you run your car at a level you feel comfortable with. Instruction is provided by experienced Nasa, Club, and SCCA instructors. Unlike most car clubs events, which are competitive and require 5 point harnesses, fire extinguishers, and often roll bars, this is a non-competitive event, so you don't need any special equipment for your car - just a helmet, which you will need to provide for yourself as there are no rentals available. Convertibles may also run without the requirement for roll bars. All vehicles must complete the required HPDE Tech and Inspection forms prior to arrival at the track. If you require your vehicle to be tech inspected at the track there will be an additional $20 late fee applied. Forms are available for download from our website at www.nasaproracing.com under Forms.

You may run with either the Beginners Group (HPDE1)........with instructors and very limited passing; Novice Group (HPDE2)........where your mentor has determined you can drive on your own....with more relaxed passing; Intermediate Group (HPDE3)........where you have progressed to the world of High Performance Driving....and the passing rules are not as strict; or the Advanced Group (HPDE4)........where you have no passing restrictions, using good judgment and the rules of the road etiquette. A full explanation of all HPDE Groups is available at our website www.nasaproracing.com. You will receive a lot of seat time, approximately 2 hours each day, with another 2 hours of classroom instruction for HPDE1 students on Saturday.

Beginners Group....HPDE1 is only available on Saturday.

$150.00 for one day
$225.00 for both days

Registration is available on-line at www.nasaproracing.com under Event Registration

2. Race Groups
Race Groups will include BMWCCA Club Racing hosting their first Club Race of the 2002 season, along with American Stock Car Challenge (ASC), American Iron (AI), American Iron Xtreme (AIX), Pro Compact (PROCOMPACT), Camaro/Mustang Challenge (CMC), Classic Roadster (CR), Spec Maita (SM), Pro 7 (PRO7), Neuspeed GTI Cup (GTI), Super Unlimited (SU), Pro Sedan (PS1, PS2, PS3, PS7), and Legends Cars (LEGEND). All vehicles must complete the required Race Tech and Inspection forms prior to arrival at the track. If you require your vehicle to be tech inspected at the track there will be an additional $20 late fee applied. Forms are available for download from our website at www.nasaproracing.com under Forms.

Race groups will get a practice, qualifying, and race session each day. Log books will be required. Nasa will honor most sanctioning bodies competition licenses such as BMWCCA, POC, PCA, SCCA, NASA, FIA, VARA, and NASCAR. Additionally you may obtain a waiver based on documented experience from the Race Director prior to the race weekend.

$150.00 for one day
$275.00 for both days

Registration is available on-line at www.nasaproracing.com under Event Registration

3. Endurance Race
Nasa is also hosting on Saturday afternoon a 2 hour Enduro, for all classes with unlimited driver combinations. The enduro will be a timed event run under the normal Nasa rules. One pitstop for a minimum of 5 gallons is mandatory during the event. Nasa re-fueling rules apply. Penalties for excessive pit lane speed, fuel spillage, and other violations will apply. This will be a timed event. All vehicles must complete the required Race Tech and Inspection forms prior to arrival at the track. If you require your vehicle to be tech inspected at the track there will be an additional $20 late fee applied. Forms are available for download from our website at www.nasaproracing.com under Forms.

Endurance group will get a practice, qualifying, and race session. Pricing structure is as follows:

$150.00 for each vehicle entered
$100.00 for each driver. Entry fee is waived for drivers that are participating in race groups

Registration is available on-line at www.nasaproracing.com under Event Registration

4. Membership
Nasa membership is now due for the 2002 year, and can be renewed online at www.nasaproracing.com. Along with the many changes that have taken place at Nasa over the last few months, our membership renewal process has also undergone a complete makeover. Membership now runs from January 1st through December 31st each year, instead of on a 12 monthly basis. Online membership process which is now easier and more user friendly. The whole procedure takes no more than 3 minutes online and has enabled us to have a more streamlined operation for generating our database and getting out membership cards, Speednews, etc. The membership cards have been redesigned along with the competition licenses, and they look.... great. If you renew your membership before January 10th, your annual fee is reduced to just $25.00.

5. Website Update
At present only the race groups and single day HPDE modules are available on the website www.nasaproracing.com under Event Registration. The reduced rate for the second day of HPDE and the Endurance Race will be updated to the site within the next 7 days. If you are interested in being advised when we have made these updates to the site please email me and I will keep you apprised. Rest assured that your personal and credit card information is safe with our secure server. If you have any questions regarding the process at www.nasaproracing.com, please contact our Security and Privacy Team at privacy@nasaproracing.com.

Take a few minutes and check out our new website, and the upcoming event on January 26 & 27, 2002, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
