ATL Car Show

This is still about a month off but I thought I'd post it to give people some notice. Georgia Tech will be hosting their first annual autoshow March 27, 2004. I have no idea if it will be good but it is free and easy to get to. Here's a link with all the info:

What's up with this?

Under their FAQ:

Q: What type of cars will be on display?

A: This autoshow is for all cars and motorcycles of all types and conditions. However, only Georgia Tech students, faculty, staff, alumni, and corporate sponsors are invited to participate by displaying a vehicle. If you are affiliated with Georgia Tech we want you to display your ride.

No "outsiders"??

I don't know why they're saying that. I emailed the person running it to ask. Hopefully I'll hear back from him soon. It doesn't make much sense to me, there are a lot of really nice cars in the Atlanta area. And since its free it isn't like they're losing anythign by letting more people show their cars.

Well I got my response back from the organizer. The fee that you saw is their recommended donation for alumni to show their car. In other words, there isn't a set fee to enter but they request a donation to be made to the school and those are the rough guidelines of what they would like the donation prices to be. I'm not sure how flexible those are.

They are limiting the number of cars to those people affiliated with Georgia Tech because the school was wary of having the show and it getting too big. They wanted to keep it fairly small the first year to make sure they could handle a small event before allowing it to expand. That being said, it also says "Those interested in participating who are not a Georgia Tech student, faculty, staff, or alumnus will be able to register by invitation only." I told The Professor organizing the show that I know some people with some very nice cars in the Atlanta area who might be interested in the show. He asked me to come to his office sometime to see about extending an invitation to some people. So there is that possibility if you would like to participate in the show.
