So Cal gathering May 08th, 2004

Everyone:

I am to meet for the people from the Thousand Oaks, Agoura, and Westlake area. Please do post the meeting location and time, as well as some emails and phone numbers to call. My info:

Mario Wiedermann
Wiedermann@aol.com
Daytime phone 818-469-9874 (if after business hours, either tell the operator on call to page me and/or leave me a voice mail message

I am in off Lynn Rd and Janns Rd in Thousand Oaks... for what it seems, everyone is closer in the Kanan, Lyndero, TO Bl area, so chances are I will be meeting with everyone over there... if any other comments, please do share...

Mr BenzoBoi: Can you please point me to any pictures of your car (E55), I take it that 2003 version you have is the new chasis...

Thanks

That would be a good meeting place. We need to figure out a time and the route to take to the Rose Bowl.

Very well... I take it that unless anyone objects... we can all agree on the following:

Date: May 08th, 2004
Time: 08:30 - 09:00 hrs Pacific time (here after assumed in Pacific time zone)
Location: Westlake Promenade theaters

We would plan on leaving around 9:05 hrs which will give us time enough to make it on time at the Rosebowl at 10:30 hrs

Unless otherwise noted, I am planning on being there

Cheers!

Yes, there are 2 different caravans. One from the West side and one from the East side.

Im going to split this thread into two threads. One for the West and one for the East.

So Cal gathering May 08th, 2004 (Route)

I was going to suggest for the west caravan to route 23 North, 118 East, 210 East then we avoid all the nightmare traffic of the 101 freeway that no matter what day and what time is always congested... any suggestions for the west caravan route to the Rosebowl? (I am posting this on the posting for the west east as well)

Thanks

Wiedermann

That would probably be the fastest route due to the 101 tieups.

While the 101 seems to be a terrible freeway I do not think traffic should be an issue at 9 am on a Saturday morning. The 23 North route seems like the backwards route but I could be wrong. I live outside Sherman Oaks and drive the 101 to Westlake/Thousand Oaks very frequently and I a almost never have any trouble early on a Saturday.

As for a time for departure, I think 9:05 seems early for the drive should not take 1.5 hrs. W could almost be to Palm Springs with any luck in 1.5 hrs ! Well maybe not THAT far... but I make my point.

If the group goes 23 N I will have to either skip the drive or Drive to Westlake in order to go back to Rosebowl.

Keep me posted please.

Agreed....We should tough it out on the Ventura Fwy. I drive the 23 up to the 118 to the 210 all the time, and it will be a faster drive overall, but it is much longer so you'll end up there at the same time, and remember that 23 is a speed trap extraordinaire....lots of smokies giving out green stamps, good buddy

ok,

Let's plan on meeting around 9.00 in Westlake and leaving for the event ~9.15

I am going to have to say that I would prefer driving down the 101 because it is more direct and, barring Caltrans or accidents, it should be faster and more enjoyable than changing freeways every 15 minutes. The 101 is like a woman, very unpredictable, you can drive it at 5pm with little traffic sometimes, other times its a mess at 2am.

Keista is right about the speed traps, especially considering we would be traveling at around 90mph just to make up the time lost by driving laterally for ~20 min through Moorpark. I say averaging ~60mph on the 101 is better than risking a ticket. imho

That being said, I'm off to Zaino the S-Class for the meet!

I am up to follow whichever route is chosen... I think people are going to go for the straigher route on 101...

Cheers!
