Benz Dealer selling 3rd Party Extended Warranty

Hi,

Does anyone here have experience with the following companies offering extended warranty for Mercedes Benz vehicles.

- Zurich
- Preferred Warranties
- CNA
- Continental

I asked my service advisor in my dealership in the PA area (Mb of West Chester) and they are suggesting to get one of these to get extended warranty and they will be able to honor the warranty at their service centers.
Thanks,

Freedom Warranty does the same, but flips the liability, Freedom Warranty pays the dealer directly for your repair bill, and accepts bills from all Mercedes Dealers in North America. For a quote and example contract on a Complete Manufacturer Extension policy, text or call me at (602) 909-9216 or you can email me at tgibson@highline-autos.com

From what I know, seen and dealth with, Zurich, CNA and Continental in that order. I have never heard of Preferred warranties though. Zurich however might be the expensive most with CNA and Continental being less espensive.
I'd personally go for CNA if they could provide you with an Exclisionary contract.

I always ask the dealer who they are most comfortable with.
They will tell you up front.

My wife got the Zurich 6 year 100,000 mile warranty when she got her 2010 ML350 in 2013 from the local Cadillac dealer, she traded in her 2009 SRX.
Zurich has a set amount they pay per repair and if that differs from the MB dealer you have to pay that difference. This issue only occurred once but did cost us over $200.00,.
the Zurich warranty in 2013 cost $3450.00

I would not use them again, they were less than accommodating when I voiced. my concern

Just a heads up, make sure you talk to a service advisor about these. A lot of times the dealerships won’t accept them or the 3rd party has a high chance of denying the claim. Make sure you read the fine print. I’ve had terrible experiences with a few you named.

The problem is the service advisor is not being clear on which one is the preferred and sending to the finance or sales person. I bet the sales person will only suggest the one where they make most profit

Please share which companies you had bad experience with (and with specifics as much you can), so I can avoid them

Back when I was driving 40 to 50,000 miles a year I bought a 2010 Mini Cooper Clubman to save my CLK, bought a extended warranty - standard 6 year 100,000 mile.
Well the the throttle body disintegrated throwing parts into the engine, engine was toast, found out the warranty company went out of business, BUT!!!!
my dealer had the WARRANTY INSURED!!!!!
- that company, forget who, paid to have the engine replaced along with the throttle body and any other repairs that need to be done, total repair $5800.00 cost me my deductible of $250.00
Now I ask unless the warranty is directly linked to the manufacture i.e.: Audi, Mercedes etc.

Buy a warranty backed by an actual manufacture. I’ve had good experiences and will ONLY buy those type of warranties. Also buy an exclusionary (bumper to bumper) policy.

GM provides a great extended warranty I have them on my RR and G63. Toyota/Lexus were also amazing I used them on my M cars. Note these are extended warranties provided by said manufactures.

If going for one not backed by manufacture I’ve heard CNA and Fidelity are good. But like I said your best bet is a manufacture backed warranty.

Sometimes finding a dealer that provides that manufacture warranty is difficult. You will have to do some searching and hunting but you’ll find someone. GM also offers interest free financing up to 24 months for their warranty.

Hello,
New to the forum and in PA also. How did you make out with the warranty? Who did you end up using?

Just got suckered into buying one of these with my new '22 GLC. The finance guy's sales pitch included a) the policy is cancelable within 30 days b) your new GLC includes a ton of electronics and you want these covered c) he was not explicit that this is a third party and not MB.

SInce the policy was cancelable I did not ask to read the coverage on the spot but when I got home not only did it become apparent that it is a third party (Preferred Warranties) but that the tech package is explicitly excluded from coverage. To say that I am pissed would be an understatement. Already told them that I am canceling. Have reached out to Jeff Jackson for a non scammy proposal.

No more MB:(
I had purchased a continental policy, never used it as I sold the vehicle early into it. I got a pro-rated refund from them.

Curiously, what is the approximate cost for these third party warranties vs MBUSA warranty?

Hi everyone,

I have a GLC300 2020 and the manufacturer warranty will expire next year (44k mileage currently). I'm new to extended warranty so have a few questions.
1. Can I buy MB extended warranty from any official dealership, even those out of state? If yes, does it mean it will be accepted by the MB dealers in my city?
2. For MB extended warranty, must I purchase them before the 4yr/50k expire? If no, is there any advantage to buying them early?
3. Will third-party extended warranty be honored at any shop? (For example, if I buy a thirdparty warranty and get my car fixed at official MB dealer, will they be able to claim directly from the company or its a pay first, ask for reimbursement later?)

1) yes and yes
2) yes and yes - prices of these warranties generally go up over time. I also seem to recall that there are pricing tiers depending on how close you are to expiration of the original warranty but no 100% sure
3) depends on the terms of the third party warranty, read the fine print
