2020 GLS with 49k miles and 6 months left on lease, but my warranty is about to expire. I plan to buy the car either now or at lease end in June as my residual is comparatively low. Does it make any sense for me to certify the car and purchase the CPO 1 or 2 year warranty? Or purchase the Extended Limited Warranty? I plan on keeping the car another 2-3 years at least (adding 35k to 50k miles of driving) and then selling it privately or trading in. Certification warranty for 1 year would be about $1,800 and 2 years about $3800. Simply extending warranty (no CPO) with MB for 2 years would be $3450 for 75k miles and $4100 for 100k miles. Would appreciate thoughts on options or forgoing warranties all together...Many thanks.
