Transitioning out of Cruise Control smoothly?

Transitioning out of Cruise Control smoothly?
I am having difficulty transitioning out of cruise control smoothly unless I accelerate or turn off regenerative braking before switching off cruise.
If I turn cruise off without doing the aforementioned the regen kicks in immediately after turning cruise off, guessing that is just the way it is but know there are far more well versed folks with EV's and maybe I am missing something obvious, thanks!

Found a fix for this, not that anything was broken aside from my learning how EV's work.
I found the "Intellegent regeneration" mode and that works much better (for me) when using CC
