Question Shipping time?

How long (roughly) is the shipping time from the factory to the VPC in Los Angeles? And how long does the vehicle usually stay there before being transported to the dealer?

My G500 was manufactured about 3 weeks ago and the dealer has yet to get an ETA. I'm going on vacation next week and I hope that my new G is waiting for me when I get back in early January, especially since I'm selling my BMW before I leave!

Talking Never mind, it shipped.

My G500 is due to arrive at the VPC in Los Angelese on Jan 6th, and then will be transported up by truck to my dealer about 5-7 days later...just as I finish a busy week at the Macworld Expo in SF. Yipee!

Re: Shipping time?

Once the ship leaves the port in Germany, it takes 26 days to arrive at the VPC in LA, give or take a day. Clearing Customs and VPC can take about 5 to 7 days depending on the time of month. ...RAB

G500 delivery

I was told this pm by my salesman that my G is on the same boat arriving Jan 6. He estimated delivery date between January 12 and 15. They have a dark grey (?) almost black G500 on the lot. They are asking $20K over sticker, while they are holding my deposit since March 2001 and swearing to me that I am "first on the list". What list I asked? They obviously bypassed the people on the list, to make extra money on the first few cars. I have nothing against making money, but what is the point of taking deposits, making up lists only to bypass it and offer a car to the highest bidder. I am "slightly upset" after being a loyal Mercedes customer for the last 10 years.

Thumbs down Re: G500 delivery

"Front End Loading", charging over MSRP, is practiced by too many M-B Centers and is a policy I have not been able to fully understand . The extra, short-term income is a weak excuse because ultimately the buyer figures out he/she received the 'purple shaft with a barbedwire cluster' and becomes thoroughly disgusted at being taken. It's even more painful when they calculate their first two year depreciation schedule and realize the markup paid was nothing more than yellow water flushed down the toilet. Lost client retention and lost referrals ultimately cost more than the initial excess markup.

In this business the after-the-sale quotient is extremely important, especially repeat sales/leasing. Granted, some people just have to have the latest and greatest and won't wait but they are very rare in total numbers. The BIG PICTURE should be the foundation of all business, especially sales. ...RAB
