Are all G500s in demo service??
I've had a deposit on a G500 long enough that I've been told that I have the #1 spot in town. We get a call saying that the dealer has received a G500, but MBUSA has "required" that it be in service as a demo through the end of the year. Further, at the end of the year, I can buy this car (at full MSRP), or wait for their first true production slot (1/26?) for delivery in March.
I am trying to reconcile this with the news that Fletcher Jones has received 7 G500s, and the news that MBUSA sold 200 in November. My dealer says that those figures are internet rumors, and that *all* G500s are in demo service until the end of the year.
Does anyone know what is going on?

I saw a brand new G500 sitting at my dealer this morning awaiting delivery. I asked how many they had sold and the guy bring around my loaner car told me that a few had already hit the street. This was in Arlington, VA.

Here in Northern Virginia, another dealer HBL, where my order has been in since Apr 2001, my production date of 1/29/2002, and delivery date arounhd Feb 21, 2002.
They have had 2 Silver G500 here already in the past 2 weeks. I sat in one recently right before they delivered to the owner. These G500s has been delivered to the owners and no longer in the showroom. So, whatever he hear about the demo is not true.

You're receiving what we in the business call 'Double-Talk'. It's exactly why some MBWorld.org members have previously referred to a few car salespeople as 'sales-monkeys'. Every one of our (FJMC) first allocation of G500's arrived and left within 24 hours. Could it be size does matter?
