G500 Exhaust

Any information on an aftermarket G500 exhaust? Is G55 exhaust compatible with G500? Now that i have inherited an 07 3k mile G500 from my wife =), I feel the need to personalize it. I like the appearance of the G55 exhaust. However, I recall someone mentioning that G55 exhaust is not compatible with G500.
Any aftermarket exhaust with a nice grunt?

Outside of the US, the 2007 G500 can now be ordered with an AMG exhaust as a standard factory option.

...........there is a lot of confusion about this, especially from off road G500 enthusiasts who critize the G55's side exhausts. BOTH the G500 and G55 have side exhaust. Look under your car. The the actual exhaust unit and the tips are different. Absolutely no no issue in using the G55 exhaust in a G500.

Funny we are taling about the exhaust. I did see an aftermarket system for the G500 in my Edge magazine (Car Magazine). The magazine featured a G500 with the dual pipe exhaust coming from under the running boards just like the AMG version. I'll get the magazine and provide the source later on.

I'm not sure what HP gain was reported, but I'm sure there were some gain.

As for the G500 doors.. Gotta love it, but it sure is a difference when getting out of a car with assisted door closure.

My dealer informed me that the tow hitch is avail through the dealer. Boating is big in Missouri and every truck needs a hitch. They told me that the G has the electrics already wired for hitch.

Can you access the seat controls and turn on the radio when the key is out of the ignition?

How do your doors close? Going from my "soft close" Lexus LS to G "slam close" is a world of difference.

Yes Sirius sound quality is poor. I don't have reception when the car is parked in the garage.

I am not a fan of sirius I have XM. You won't get reception in the garage because the antenna cant get a reception from the satellite. I ran an aux hookup for my IPOD.

Did you have MB dealer install the aux input? Are you satisfied with the result?

You might want to consider different tires. The stock tires are fine for the highway, but terrible (traction-wise) and fragile off road.

Do you have any pics of your g? If you are planning on doing offroading you need to go with a 16in wheel. An 18in will not allow you to pit a tire on with enough sidewall.

The new G500 is a great car. Actually the whole G Class is a great car. I drove g270cdi and g400cdi, they are not very easy to drive and do not have functions like ml but it has a different soul. Great car to drive

After test driving everything from Lexus LX, Escalade, RR, Infiniti, I stepped into a G. G wagon is in a different league. It drives like a German car should drive. Eventhough it has a high center of gravity and doesn't corner well, I still get the enjoyment of driving. I love the response of the acceleration, feedback to the steering whell, engine note. If you haven't driven one, you should. To my surprise, even my wife loves it and would not part with it. Our '07 G500 has become her (and our 2 year old daughter) daily driver. I have been looking for a black G55 for myself. G-wagon has its own quirks. The doors don't close easily. It doesn't have the latest technological gadgets. It falls short to its competitors when it comes down to latest gizmos and convenience features. However, these short comings don't bother us.

Since we bought the G, the Range has been sparsely used then sold. It is built like a bank vault and one feels very safe driving it. Where we live in rural NC, it has celebrety status.

in one instance i liked the G55 better because if you put the windows down and mashed the gas, it was actually pretty loud inside.

not that this is relevant but when the gentleman above informed the other gentleman of the G55 having side exhaust, it made me remember the difference in the two. so i guess its
