2003 G500
G320 Cdi Engine Into 2003 G500
Since it doesn't appear the Mercedes will be offering the G320 CDI here in the states for a while, I'm investigating making my own.
How difficult would it be to put a G320 CDI engine into a 2003 G500 ? Does the transmission etc need to be modified as well. Would all of the electronics need to be replaced ?

The swap is not the problem. You could the same trans if you wanted to, might have to make an adaptor plate, and the motor would probably need custom motor mounts... However us models electronics suck.. I would say the only way you might get this to work is use the shell of the G class and then buy every computer, sensor and wireing harness for a diesel. then put them back together.
You might call Brabus... Some how they get S65 motors and computers to work in a CLS.
If you do and its cheap ill be #2 on the list.

400 ft lbs torque is not weak.
It's more than the 500 gas in fact.
How hard would it be?
Harder than importing a G320CDI complete.

Since it is available abroad, it would not be very difficult. It would be more difficult getting a g320 from abroad. You would have to get motor, ecu, tcu, wiring harness for engine bay and some programming.
