Why no G 550?

Why no G 550?
I'm suprised that Mercedes has replaced the 5.0 liter motor with the new 5.5 liter motor across it's model line with the exception of the Gelaendewagen. The G would really benefit and be much more desirable with the 550 motor. Any idea why the G hasn't received the new 5.5 liter V8?
