Maybe a little high priced??? i am not sure. I am used to determining values of 300, 320, 400, and 500E's so...
Its got some professional good upgrades there, so maybe not.
It looks extremely solid! If ya got the cash, I try to bump it down, but go for it!
(Find out why the owner didn't want it or what happened to it during its 32,000 miles. seems like a weird time to be selling a car like that)

I think it's a bit over priced too but I'm now sure what I should offer. The owner got put in jail due to a corporate scandal up here in Seattle. One of my concerns is repairs. It's obviously not under warranty. So, if something goes wrong, will I have to send it down to Europa or Brabus?

I posted on another group to find out what a friend to mine, who lives in Washington, had to say. Here you go:
As to your question about service on it, my guess is that you'll have to go to Brabus.
I know the dealership (Parkplace) and I have talked with Rene over the years. They are an upper-end seller of everything that might be expensive, fast, and unusual. It is my impression that they only handle vehicles that are higher quality. In fact, I have watched this dealer develop over the years, and while always a little high on price, many customers are willing to pay more for something better/cleaner. I once had a fatal attraction to a light gray 300G LWB. It was low mileage and very clean, mid 1990's. Rene was willing to bend significantly on the price at that time. I lost out due to distance from my house 70 miles. Bought Microsoft stock instead...
At any one time, I have observed three or four Gwagens on the lot. I think they may have had an "arrangement" with Europa at one time to sell new G's. Not certain about that.

Yeah, since moving to Seattle I've moved a few cars through Park Place. They are notorious in my book for asking too much for cars but bending if you ask. For example, they just sold a 2003 911TT for 104k after asking 112k. I guess I'm curious as to what would be a fair price to offer?

Cabriolets Are High
The fact that it's a Cabriolet makes it more unique than the Brabus upgrades. They've all had asking prices in the 90's. I'd probably offer $80k, and go from there.

Okay, test drive is over and it sure was schweet!
However, I have another question regarding the back seats. This is especially pertinent because I have two dogs who will have the pleasure of using the full cargo area.
The back seats - do they not latch down when folded/lifted into the forward position? Is there no way to secure them so that they do not unfold or fly back upon acceleration or hill climbing? I thought the older models had a latch or mechanism that kept them in place?
Also, another wholly unrelated question - what's the towing cap. of this truck?

Towing capacity is different for Europe and the US. Go to the MB website and look. It's there. The US is usually lower than Europe; but yours is one of the European ones.

would be to go over there. Fold the rear seats, and see how snug against fall back they are.

I have driven the car, almost bought it but was outbid by the current owner. It was owned by a gentleman here in Washington State that had a run in with the law. Marshalls seized a number of vehicles including the Cab. and were put on auction. Current owner told me that they had bought it because the "wife liked it", one week later it was on E-bay for over $100,000.00. Did not sell on E-bay and spotted at Park Place last week, salesman told me the asking price was $97,000.00.
Vehicle is very nice, but has deep spoiler in front and with the 18" Brabus wheels sits very low. Has Brabus engine and suspension modifications, winch and Brabus interior. Great for crusing autobahn but will probably never see offroad, at least not in it's current configuration. Probably better deals out there if looking for convertible,

I fiddled with them already - they weren't snug enough. . .
There's no way to retro fit a latch to keep 'em down? I could've sworn there was a latch on an older ('91) Cab that I looked at a few years back.

RIP OFF!
If you are gonna consider that ridiculous price for a 2000 G500, cabriolet or not, you might as well go after a G55 for a few grand less and stock upgrades that blow away all that after-market Brabus gear. Cabriolet is cool I must say, but its no AMG!

ridiculous chrome trim? hardly. i dont have the luxury of a "foreigner's taste" but I would still go as far as to say its the subtlety of the three (3) chrome additions that adds the finishing touch on a car that blows away its stripped, weaker counterpart. some good advice: you should never share that comment about the G55 being "really ugly" compared to a G500. simply foolish.

I was about to take delivery, until I drove it. I was unimpressed with its power (to be polite). This Brabus Cab, outhandles and outaccelerates the G55, HANDS DOWN.

The Brabus Cabriolet undoubtedly outperforms the 4-door G55. Not only is it substantially lighter, but any time you allow an after-market mechanic to tweak an engine, you expect more power. As for taking it over the G55, don't kid yourself. For a couple grand less you get a vehicle that is not only hand-crafted by AMG, but it has designo leather, a body kit, a premium sound system, 0 miles, a full warranty and that oh so coveted AMG emblem on the back--straight from the factory. There is no comparison. So you shave off an extra .5 second on the 0-60, but this isn't a sports car. Of course, if older, outdated and less-luxurious cars are your thing, why not get RIPPED OFF?

I would've been a proud owner too . . .
And I'm not kidding anyone. . . the Cab is simply a more attractive truck (to me). It's leather has been completely redone by Brabus, and it's much more supple than the 55. The Brabus Cab also has a body kit and a sound system, as well as throatier exhaust, and better suspension. The only thing that it doesn't have is the warranty, and you're right, it is coveted.
As for the price, I've offered them $80k - we'll see what they do with it, but to charge 90k for the 55 and then another 20k to get its performance on par would have been entirely too much.
This may be a case of agreeing to disagree, but believe me, I've seen/driven/experienced both vehicles - and I can not say that the 55 is superior in any aspect.
