Relatively new to the forum and would like to get some feed back on the 09 G55 ride as I've heard this vehicle is very stiff and ruff riding. I've owned AMG's in the past (03 SL55 and 06 SL65) and liked both of them.
This is strictly a weekend toy and three day get-a-way purchase. Will never see off road conditions, so I'd be interested in hearing from the group about the comfort qualities. I've driven both the 08 and 09, and the only noticeable ride difference is the perforated seats.
On a scale of 1 to 10, wow would you rate the comfort for a 4-8 hour road trip? While my test drive was relatively short with some fyw and back roads, I was surprised that the seating wasn't more comfortable, but maybe it's just the feel of a new car and getting use to the seating positions.
I also noticed some minor squeaking with both 08 and 09 G55, both were brand new with less than 50 miles on them. How do these hold up in the long run? Fit and finish? Are rattles common with these?
One thing is for sure, the exhaust notes are intoxicating and I love the way this thing looks and the AMG power…
Thanks again.

I had a 03 and now a 08 500. Fit and finish were perfect. 03 had a creak in the rear door that had to be dealt with every 6 months. Simply adjustments. Nothing major
We took the new one to Asheville which is 3.5 hours away and it was fine. I'm not a long road trip person and was ready to get out but feel the same way about our other cars. It's not a Range Rover. It's a truck.
Since this is the 500/550 forum, I thought I'd comment. We were considering a 55 but this is my wife's daily driver and a happy wife is worth her weight in Gwaagens.
For me to trade for the same vehicle but newer is a First. This says a lot about the G!!!!

These are great trucks, but there are far better on-road vehicles. For someone who has a lot of stuff to transport but does not want to give up anything, there is the E63 wagon. On road, it will do everything far better.
