I ordered a G550
I went back and forth on a used G55 or a new G550. In the end I wanted the full warranty and softer ride. Nothing is better then picking up a brand new car so I found a dealer that had a allocation and bit the bullet. I picked a 2011 white G550 with black interior and piano black trim, the only bad part is I have to wait till mid July for delivery. I have been wanting a G for a few years so I think I can wait a little longer lol

2013 G 63 AMG
Congrats, post some pics when you get it. Did you go for standard or matte white? Have you considered waiting for the 2012 model which begins production in September?

hmm so should i holdout for the bi-turbo? I would prefer better mileage from the current supercharged motor. Build is in June and delivery around october, I wouldn't mind waiting... any links to the said rumours?

In Canada you have NO options you can pick! It's really sad. On a G550 you can only pick standard paint colors. Black, grey or brown interior. The only option is rear tv's in the headrests.
The white is Calcite.
I have thought about waiting for a 2012, I would be upset if I got a 2011 and they make changes that I would want for 2012. I did talk to one dealer that said that the 2012 G550 will have the option of Designo interiors.

My 2 cents on this subject. There will always be a newer motor, Nav system, etc etc..The only thing that is not certain is if we will be here to enjoy it when it arrives...Buy the car now and if you really must have the new engine next year, Im sure we can all figure out a way to make that happen..

Could be but not what I was told from somebody in the know at MB. What I was told is that the change will be similar to what happened when the sl63 got the new motor. The g55 will simply skip a yr so there will be a 2011 g55 a 2013 g63 and nothing in between. When you say new g550 what do you mean by that what is changing w/ the 550 ? My understanding is that model wont skip a beat there will be a 2012 as usual as there is no major motor change coming

I would think they will put the new 4.6 litre Turbo engine but still call it a 550 ( such as the CL and S class )

As far as other options go, there are none on the 55 so I assume very few on the 550.
Either way, congrats on the new car.

You can get any standard exterior color on the G550, you can't get any of the Designo colors on the G550!
The only option you can get in Canada on either the G55 or G550 is rear entertainment TV's.
As seen here: https://mbworld.org/forums/g-class-w...whats-new.html

Just picked up my wife's new G550 with the black exterior and tan interior and we could not be happier. We placed the order back in February and it arrived here on Friday. The ride is so much better than my 2003 G500.

Ohhh goodness. That 6.3 motor is a joke compared to the 55kompressors, atleast in the current models. Those 6.3 motors are a complete watse in the high altitude regions of the US. The 55kompressor engines are the real deal. What was mercedes thinking? <--rhetorical question
