Gwagen Diesel...

Is anyone aware of any plan to bring a G diesel to the US?

If not, then how difficult would it be to bring a Euro G over to the US and fed it?

No USA diesel...

Thanks for the info.

Entirely off topic... Does your matte finish require special more maintenance?
Several years ago, while touring the AMG factory, I was treated to a first look at the matte finish on a CLS63 and advised that, if produced, then the finish would require special maintenance.

Just wondering.

Nope, in fact it's more durable. The only restrictions are you can't polish/wax/buff the paint. Just wash with water and mild detergent. It's also car-wash friendly for those times when you have no better option as swirl marks don't show up.

Hi -- Why impossible to import. It should pass an emissions test?

90 300GD diesel SWB
For one you would need to go through a registered importer. The emissions and DOT regulations would need to be addressed. With all the computer and other electronic systems that are intertwined on these engines the cost would be prohibitive.

For example the older less electronic vehicles from the late 80s and 90s can reach well above $20,000 for the conversion.

Believe me I have run this battle for over 5 years. I have been in email communicato with the heads at Graz and MBUSA. Mercedes of Germany WANTS to import the diesel G here but MBUSA does not.

I you have the money to burn it is doable.
