The sunroof on my 03 G500 would not close or open. I can hear the motor try to open and it opens little by little (1/16 inch) each time the switch is moved to the open position, but it does not move to close position at all. I was able to close and open the sunroof manually by following the instructions on the operations manual.

I tried opening it via remote key just to be sure that it wasn't just the open/close switch on the dome light area, but the same symptoms happen. Could it be the motor? Has anyone had their sunroof motor changed?

There's a cable that can cause issues in the sunroof mechanism. I had that happen on my 2010 G55 and my dealer seemed to know exactly what to do and fixed it the same day. The motor is probably fine if you can hear it.

Have the same issue. Just got car 5 days ago!! Heading to dealer. Any info on what the issue was exactly? And cost, just for reference?
