Snow Performance?

Hey all,

I'm just wondering how the G does in the snow w/o snow tires? I go to college in PA and last season we had some really big snow storms, and my old X5 didn't fare too well. What kind of performance should I expect in the snow? Are snow tires an absolute must-have?

Thanks

Stock tires are ho-hum in snow, from what I've heard. We don't get much down here in GA.

The biggest problem you'll have will be to find snow or all terrain tires in the correct size. In Europe, they use the 16" wheels for this purpose (lots to tire options to choose from in 16"), but MBUSA will not bring them in the US.

Cool

I think you will be just fine with G500 tires. I also have a 2001 X5 4.4i with sport package and I’m always putting a winter wheels and tires. Last winter in Boston was very bad one but I didn’t have any problems with X5. X5+snowtires=snowmobile.
Speaking of G last 3 winters my wife was driving a 01’ QX4 with a similar type of tires like on our new 2003 G500, she never had any problems.

My 0.02
Cheers.
