Need Help Buying used G.
Hey Fellas.
I'm looking into buying a Used 280G 1984 automatic. The owner is asking for 18,000$ I feel it is a little high, what could be a reasonable counter offer and what points could i use for bringing down the price? I know the age is one aspect but i'm afraid the owner will be saying that it is a beast and military grade and so one.
thanks

GEs aren't always as they are described
Do you know what the condition of this car is? Have you seen it? What part of the world is it in? I don' want to buy it I just like to know if it a NE summer barn find - like the one I recently saw:
A fellow had purchased a similar model described by the seller as "mint interior, body and running condition" asking price $18000 US.
It turned out it was in a falling down shed, the interior had rodent pets, the paint was completely faded, it hadn't been driven in several years, dead battery, stripped out radio, bad shocks and springs, other missing parts, and so on.
The buyer got it for half price. But after some work it runs like a champ.
Aside from that DUTCH can answer questions about diesels I think.

Hi Grane,
It's in Canada, pretty sure its seen winter. the exterior looks good ( ill try and upload pictures later and ask for interior) it's still has plates on it... So if you're friend paid half for a ruined one there's pretty much nothing I can use to bargain this one huh??

$6k-8k is much more realistic. At $18k the seller will continue to own the truck for a very long time.

Rigth thanks Dutch,
That is what i was thinking, but how can I go up to the seller and say 18,000$ is crazy i'm offering you 6,000$ any idea on points I should discuss to prove to him that he's nuts ... I dunno, like there's no warranty anymore,

Make him an offer so he has something to think about.
