G-Class designo owners out there?
Anyone out there have a G-Class in designo Silver? I haven't seen one in that color and I'm curious to see what it looks like. I think that's the same color that the new SL Launch Edition was, but I don't think it will look very good on the G-Class.
I've moved out of the country and my local dealer here has a 2004 G55 in designo Silver that just came in, but it's at the port where they can't show it to me.

Cant help you with the interior but just thought I'd let you know that Awir used car market has a lot of G55s available, mainly 2001s but quite a few 2002s and the ocassional 2003 going extremely cheap

Was just there earlier this week
I went to the Awir market just a few days ago and didn't really find anything I liked. There was one guy who had two G55's, one 2001 and one 2002. They were both in pretty bad shape, especially the interiors. Really torn up. They were selling them for AED 165,000 each (US$ 45,000).
There is a place on the Abu Dhabi highway that has a 2002 G55 in excellent condition with 13,000 km on it...but it was brought in from Germany and not bought through the local dealer so there's the issue of limited warranty. It also has BRABUS wheels, a new front spoiler, and retrofitted Xenon headlamps which are actually worse than the stock ones. It is white with black leather. That one is going for AED 260,000!
4x4 Motors near the airport sold a 2002 G55 (silver & gray leather) last week for AED 220,000 with 20,000 km. Didn't get a chance to see it before it was sold.
I've managed to spec out my ideal 2004 G55 with Gargash and got the price down AED 315,000 brand new with a designo interior and exterior package. I saved money be not getting the TV tuner, phone hands free kit, rear jump seats, etc. All that stuff is crap anyway. The salesman told me that they'd be offering additional discounts during Ramadan and that I should wait till then.
I'm going to force myself to be patient in case a nice used one comes on the market in the next few weeks. AMG might also announce the G55 Kompressor at the Frankfurt auto show next month, so that might bring prices down a little on the current one as well.
