G55 / G550 changes by year
This data is across the web in various places but I thought I would compile the data into one spot. Please reply if I am missing something or there is a error.
2002:
G500-5.0L, 292HP/336TQ 5 speed trans
2003:
G500-same
G55-5.5L, 349HP/387TQ 5 speed trans
2004:
G500-same
G55-same
2005:
G500-same
G55-5.5L, 469HP/516TQ (engine now supercharged kompressor- 5 speed trans ), upgraded brakes, new suspension
2006:
G500-same
G55-same
2007:
G500-same engine but gets a new 7 speed trans
G55-493HP/516TQ, 5 speed trans
xenon headlights, foglights with cornering, new wheels, newer seating
2008:
G500-same
G55-same
last year of factory tow hitch, new dashboard/gauge cluster, new comand audio/nav system with reverse camera for navigation
2009:
G500 now known as G550 - 5.5L, 382HP/391T ( the new engine found in S550 ) 7 speed trans
G55-5.5L, 500HP/516TQ , 5 speed trans
Comand system updated with internal harddrive/ipod/SD (it is now the version found in the S class), Newer wheels, new front grille, alcantara headliner standard, ventilated seats, new rear skid plate, no more towing package

ventilated seats upgraded to the S Class style (much better airflow), more plush leather interior/dashboard,
2011-

chrome brush guards for foglights/rear lights gone
