From E350 Bluetec to G?
Want to get your perspective on G ownership. I have a GX460 for wife/fam duty, Huracan as my toy and Bluetec for my daily.
The E is getting a bit boring. So I'm thinking several options:
1) G550 - figure it would be fun as I like trucks. Had a Jeep that I planned on highly modding before getting Lex. Is it fun to drive?
2) GTR - But It think it would be more of the same as Gallardo just as a daily car.
3) S or 7 series - it would compliment the SUV and Huracan but would be a bit steril and perhaps boring or more of the same as Lex truck but much more smooth.
What do you guys think of a G as a daily - though I don't drive daily since I work from home.
No its the G550 Edition Select . Designo interior with the AMG sidepipes . Sounds great . I did test drive the G63 AMG but decided to save some money on purchase price and maintenance . Because its a daily driver . No issues with it so far . I came from a GL550 which too was great but a little soccer mom for me . I considered a GL63 but glad I went with the G550 . Maybe a G63 next ??
As far as ride goes the G is a little better but still very similar to a coil sprung wrangler. The difference is the G weighs a good 2000 lbs more, which you can feel through the steering wheel. I actually consider it a plus because it lets you know youre rolling around in a 5500lb panzer tank. Turn radius is pretty good, and about spot on with a 4 door wrangler. Obviously the MB power train trumps the jeep all around, and the 7000+ lb towing capacity is nice to have if you have toys for the lake or ocean. The mod-ability is nowhere near what the wrangler has, although there are a few select vendors that have some nice items. Gwagenaccessories and viking offroad both offer rock sliders, winch bumpers, small lift kits, shocks, and some other overland type of addons such as gas can carriers, roof racks, and ladders.
If you really want to stand out you could go ***** out and take it to letech in vegas to have some portal axles installed, or have dyno-comp in scottsdale AZ install one of their custom 6" lift kits.
BTW i have an 06 g500 without any rattles going on. What most people ***** about is the back hatch bushing that squeaks/rattles when the lube on it wears out, but you can buy a $70 bottle of mercedes wunderlube that will get rid of all the noise and last 3 lifetimes.
I think your best choice would be to do a straight up swap with me. Ill take the huracon and you can have my G, but you better act quick because I wont leave this offer on the table forever. Ill even through in a 12 pack of PBR to sweeten the deal.
