What size tires and offset for 20" wheels? 2017 G wagon
Looking to get a new set of wheels and tires. what is the max tire size I can run without rubbing and getting a lift?

I actually have been planning on asking a similar question, but I don't want to buy new wheels. Mine will be a 2017 G63 with the black 20" AMG 5 spoke wheels. The G63 comes with high performance summer tires. Living in New England, I need something that will be decent in the snow and I don't want to deal with swapping tires around twice a year (nor do I really have space to store a 2nd set).
The stock tire size is 275/50R20, which is a size with fairly limited and typically expensive options.
Switching to 275/55R20 opens up a lot of options (such as BFG T/A KO2's) at much more reasonable prices. But the diameter for this size is about 1" larger than the stock tire size.
Advice would be appreciated.

It would probably be a good idea to indicate if this is a G550 or G63 as the answer is likely a bit different as the suspensions aren't the same.

Its a g550, I thought the suspension would be the same. Yeah I've been thinking about getting nitto terra grapplers. I live out in Colorado where we get like 2 feet of snow sometimes. But I have a jeep for those days lol.

No, the G550 and G63 are tuned differently with different springs and shocks. The G63 is a bit stiffer and rides a bit lower.
Are you getting the adjustable suspension option on your G550? My 2014 G550 didn't have it (wasn't an option at the time), but my 2016 G550 does. It's a nice improvement that allows you a more comfortable ride most of the time (in comfort mode), but gives you the option to tighten things up when you need it (in sport mode).
